Oh Tinks - that is great. I have been lurking to see if you were back yet. Am glad everything is ok so far and that they are keeping an eye on you. Do you feel a little more relaxed now?0

Can I join in please? I know absolutely nothing about pregnancy although I have been taking seven seas planning to get pregnant vitamins.
I guess I need to book to see the doctor soon - will a nurse do to confirm pregnancy or do I need to see the doctor? I have done 2 tests and they were both positive! TBH I am quite scared of everything and still in shock.....:o What comes next?
You book with the docs as LemonMelon said - phone your GP, say you're preganant and do you need to see the midwife or the GP? (some GP practises have midwives 'attached', others don't), but don't expect anything exciting at the first appointment. If you do have to see a GP first and get referred it's worth checking that the referral made it to where it needed to go, mine needed chasing up.
You should be taking folic acid (this is most imporant in the first trimester and less so later on), my doctor didn't even mention this until I pulled a box out of my bag and said 'can I take these' at which point he googled the correct dosage (I'd already done that). Check if your trying to get pregnant vitamins have that in. There are some foods and supplements to start avoiding, usually anything with vitamin A, or anything you could get food poisoining off of (you're more likely to get it if you are pregnant, and listeriosis is the particular concern as it's bad for baby not just for you, but TBH your odds of getting it are pretty small).
No-one checks to see if you're preganant around here, they just believe you. You'll get to see baby on the scan at c. 12 weeks though but until then no-one tested anything.
Doctor simply asked which hospital I wanted to go to (out of two options) so it might make sense to check out the NHS choices website in advance as well as *scratches head* http://www.birthchoiceuk.com/ ? to see what's available near you. You might also discover your local maternity service takes self referrals which would speed things up.
The only other thing to watch out for (without wanting to scare you) is an etopic pregnancy, which is rare but dangerous if your fallopian tube ruptures. If this happens it's a 999 call for you, symptoms are (from the NHS website):- sudden, severe, sharp pain
- feeling faint and dizzy er - normal for pregnancy though!
- feeling or being sick also normal for pregnancy!
- diarrhoea
- shoulder tip pain

That's the only way you can take it. I understand how you feel. You don't ever really relax - you just take one step at a time and pray for the best. Take it easy and remember we're all here for you. (Happy to be pm'd if you ever need a chat with a random internet stranger who has a small inkling of what you're going through!)0

Didn't tell anyone until the 12 week scan, then told parents/siblings first and then work + friends who we were likely to see (over about 2-3 weeks), then announced on FB for those far away and anyone we hadn't seen.teaandcupcakesplease wrote: »QQ obviously still too early to say to anyone but when does/did everyone tell thier parents etc?xx0
