you can take pretty much nothing for a cold unfortunately - try hot lemon/ginger/honey to drink, lots of rest, and if you're bunged up I'd personally sniff some menthol/eucalyptus type scents like Vicks (but not sure how that would go down officially!).

    Hello again

I think my dates are a bit out on the list my app says i'm 8 +4 but this seems slightly too far along for me but will go with it till I see the mw next wed.

Sorry not been on much, had quite a few crampy pains so was a little worried things might not be going well. Had no bleeds and I do have a ovarian cyst so I'm trying to put it down to that. Keep thinking I should get it checked out maybe but part of me doesn't want to in case I hear the worst - does this sound crazy?

I feel pants too. Have luckily managed to only be sick twice but have a cold and feel totally drained :0( It is made worse by all the conflicting advise on what you can and can't take to ease it. Every thing I have in the cupboard just says ask your gp but there not open at this time and god forbid I google anything you just get contradicting advice.

Sorry that's a bit of a long one. Hope your all doing well xx

My mw told me that all sorts of stretching/cramping pains are normal in first trimester, so not to worry unless I was doubling over in pain, or
leeding as well. Hope that helps :)

Re: colds etc, paracetamol is ok, but not decongestants, so beware of lemsip type products. As savage said, hot water with honey and lemon is pretty good, and I would use unmedicated throat sweets or just get some boiled ones :)

had doctors appointment last night - he filled in a form to pass to the midwife (turns out the surgery has a midwife there every thursday afternoon!) so hopefully I will be having my booking in appointment soon!

got my prescription for folic acid too - though nearly had a row with the lady in boots as she wanted to charge me for it! I'd already told her that at the minute I dont have my maternity certificate thing but the doctor had already told me that this is only ever prescribed for pregnant women - her supervisor had overheard and told her its basic common-sense that I can have my prescription without charge!
  • Couldn't help but do another cb digital today because the one I did on Thursday said 1-2 weeks, toda it said 2-3. I thought my OH face was going to split open because his grin was that big just because it had gone up!!

Has anyone gained any weight yet? I always weigh every day because I've lost 3 stone and just like to keep an eye on it. I've gained 1lb so far.

Anxious for tomorrow's appointment. My doc was in the papers a couple of years ago and not for good things! Should I expect an internal tomorrow or not? Will it just be paper work? Do they weigh and do bloods?

    Sorry for all the questions!

You won't get weighed or have bloods taken until your booking in appointment with the midwife. And i'm sure you won't have an internal at any point until you're in labour or overdue and have a sweep to move things along. Thats as far as i remember from my last pregnancy anyway.

I had put only one pound on until i hit 12 weeks and it has suddenly shot up to 4lbs! not too concerned at the moment it may just be water the baby only weighs about 15 grams at the moment!

I never thought of doing a cb digital to check the levels going up - until Ive had my scan (which isnt going to be for ages!) Im going to be panicking something is wrong etc!

wheres the best place to buy them from?!
  • I bought them from superdrug, they were 2 for £8.49 last week! Bargain!!

I didn't think that they would do an internal but then I read somewhere that they might, maybe it was an American website I looked at.

Never had an internal yet, I'm 31 weeks now. No one showed any interest in bump at all (aside from the 2 scans) until 25 weeks when they start measuring it and listening to heartbeat (you may get a heartbeat listener from 16 weeks if you're lucky though).
They also feel for head / position from 25 weeks.
  • With 1st preganancy had interals only at the end to see how far labour was along (not very was the answer)...and I'm pretty sure with 2nd there was no internals at all but she was a planned section baby.

Me and the scales fell out years ago lol! I feel "bigger" but I'm prone to biggish bubbas and I swear I read every preganacy you can show earlier each time. Even though I feel "bigger", it feels more water retention and sweling isn't the right word but they only thing I can discribe it!

I find for a cold taking paracetamol and warm ribeana helps me :)

Ive got my manager coming over today so will prob have to start the ball rolling wth the maternity bits for work.

Please don't buy a CB digi just to check the numbers have gone up hun, the conception indicator isn't 100% accurate so if the numbers don't change or tally up it might cause you unnecessary concern, mine showed 1-2 weeks when I was over the 6 week marker and then a week and a half later came up with error. x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
