Hello, can I join please? I'm 5+3 with my first and the time seems to be going really really slowly since I got my BFP. Last week I felt quesy most days, but this week the quesiness has subsided and I seem to have picked up a cold and keep sneezing and feel really bunged up. I'm guessing/hoping that having a cold won't have an impact on my pregnancy. Has anyone else had one this early on? I've got my first appointment with a GP next Wednesday so I'll ask them then, but it's good to hear other people's experience. Thanks.0

Appointment with the consultant booked for 3 weeks time - I should be about 8 weeks by then so will hopefully get some definite answers if this one's viable or going to be another early loss (things go wrong for me around the 6 1/2 week point generally). I'm a lot more laid back about this one in a what will be will be sense - probably because I've got such an awesome little girl now that this is the icing on the cake and not the cake itself.
I actually have a log from my last pregnancy in corners of the page of my diary of what symptoms I had on what days (it was my attempt to rationalise things after so many losses) and it's got notes on days where I had no symptoms and was bricking it with terror - and days when symptoms vanished until the afternoon and what-not... things tend to fade onwards from about 9 weeks anyway as the placenta starts taking over the job of the hormones that make you feel awful.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Morning ladies!!
Emily welcome to the thread, congrats on your BFP! I dot know whether cold etc is normal but I have been sneezing like mad since I got my BFP. I think it's a combo of hormones and hayfever since I can't take my usual antihistamines anymore!!
Dizzie I didn't know that about placenta starting so symptoms etc reduce, that's really interesting (and shows hows how little I know lol!). I have learned more in the past 3 weeks that I have in the past 3 years lol!
Countrybum I'm glad the scan went well, I can't wait for scan and tell the rest of my family etc!
AFM I'm currently lying in bed trying to summon the effort to get up! Was feeling very queasy this morning but discovered I'm fine when I sleep so been trying to sleep for as long as poss! Have had some toast and philadelphia and it was really good so hopefully it stays downSaving money like a trouper...0 -

:pHi everyone!
Still no booking appt or scan date for me, I'm 10 weeks today.
I've rang the midwife and left a message every day this week. Also called the maternity centre who won't deal with me directly, only take referrals through midwife. Called my doctor's surgery who said there is nothing they can do other than leave her another message:mad:. They won't refer me to another midwife as 'you get the one attached to the surgery and that's it'. Boo.
Anyone have any ideas what I can do to get myself a booking appointment and a scan??!!0 -

Have you tried looking on the local hospital website? there is sometimes a direct number to make self referrals to the midwives, thats what i did. depends where you are though.Aims for 2014

Thanks Ellie!
I rang them but they won't make an appointment with me, only midwife can make the appointments.
I really want to feel like I am actually pregnant if that makes sense? I'm still doing pg test every week just to check! I think it's maybe having to keep it secret that makes me feel like it's not real.
Anyway, how's everyone else today?0 -
msnigella i know how you feel, it doesnt feel real to me yet and im 11 weeks
. Still havn't told many people only baby's father and my best friend.
i'm trying to figure out how to tell my parents and the rest of the family, and work ( wasnt planned and im not in a relationship with the father, so it will be a shock to all i think) but wanted to wait till after the 12 week scan ( still waiting for a date though).Aims for 2014

Hope you don’t mind me still lurking?? I like being around this thread as I wished my 12 weeks away and now I feel like I shouldn’t have because I liked having a little secret only me & OH knew and now people know it isn’t the same lol! Weird I know…
2ba3c – with your leg/groin pain it sounds like it could be ligaments stretching… I have had some serious pains down there throughout my pregnancy from about 11 weeks and am now on cocodamol for them. If you notice it too often and it is on just one side then take note… if it is regular and only on one side & accompanied by shoulder pain or any bleeding however light, get to the EPU for an early scan just to make sure all is ok…I don’t want to scare you and I’m sure you will be fine but I had an early scan just to double check it wasn’t ectopic (which it wasn’t) because I had those symptoms and it is always better to check it out just in case J With symptoms in pregnancy I have found mine come and go throughout so try not to worry … symptoms don’t mean anything at this stage hun, count yourself lucky if you have less x P.s I never had achey boobs…they just got bigger and I developed giant dark nipples!!
I always think its lovely when the ladies who have been through it all come back and pass on advice to the less experienced/panicked of us (I fall into both categories!!)
I think you are absolutely right re. the pain, I'm going to mention it to the midwife next Wednesday at my booking in appointment too, as one side feels extremely tender/bruised. I definitely get that pain when you sit up too quickly in my groin, like something stretched and broke!
