Welcome newbie peopleI just can't believe how much the system has changed since I had my 4 1/2 year old, lol.
I can't believe how much it varies around the country either. My first midwife appt was at home, whereas friend oop North had hers at the surgery and likewise, her GP wouldn't do any booking appt until the pregnancy had been confirmed, whereas mine said no point confirming the test, as they use the same technology which gets so few false positives that it's not worth doing
I can't believe that I'm due to graduate from this thread soon, I might have to hang around for a while before I venture on to the Big Thread! Scan is tomorrow, I am excited and a bit scared, which I think is quite normal
2b- how are things now? xx0 -
What time is your scan millie? I am already getting butterflies thinking about mine and it isnt until september! Although i think my nerves are even worse with the 20 week scan.0

11.20
I'm not as nervous as I might have been, as I was scanned at 7 weeks due to bleeding, but I'm still a bit jittery...
I can't imagine how I'll be for the 20 week one *bites nails*0 -

Hey all, I just wondered if anyone had refused the booking in blood tests at all and what reaction they got from their midwife? Second time around and I know my blood group, immunity and all the stuff they're checking for. I can't tell you how ridiculously scared of blood tests I am and I just can't face three bottles of blood coming out of me that aren't going to tell me anything I don't know.
Fwiw I just about managed the blood test for Downs earlier in the week ( had to go private for that one) and after a consultant had to pick me up off the floor I was so cold, grey and sweaty I asked myself if the routine ones are worth the stress for me.
Anyone got a view please? Am I missing something that makes them mega important?Go your own way..

I guess they would want to track your bloods as the pregnancy goes along to make sure you're not lacking in anything significant. I don't like them either and have terrible veins - always come away like a pin cushion and they ALWAYS have to get a specialist in to do it in the end. I've even had health checks where they've just given up because they can't do it.0
