i had my first visit to the Mf, it turned out she cancelled my app and i never received the letter, so she was there getting ready to go when the receptionist asked her if she was going without seeing me... she apologized and took me to the room, just notes really, gave me another app in 10 days to take bloods and urine sample... did not listen to baby heartbeat or anything.... I am just another one on the list i guess.

Morocha, I don't think they are supposed to listen to baby's heartbeat at first midwife appointment anyway - well they didn't at mine either. I presume it is too early. My first appointment consisted of taking blood pressure, giving me loads of leaflets and info as well as my antenatal notes, a quick urine test, telling me my scan date and booking in my next appointment. I had a blood test that day at the hospital but I could have done it another time.

AFM, knackered after not getting home from work until 8:45pm! Early night tomorrow!

Morocha they don't usually listen to the heartbeat until you are further along hun, definitely not at your booking in appointment.

I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and my midwife still hasn't used the doppler on me to hear babies heartbeat, but I've heard it when I've been in hospital or at the consultants.

hi ya girls, thanks for the comments, but this is my 2 baby and she is the same MW i knew back then, i am just thinking that maybe we hear the baby heartbeat early on because i found out i was pregnant at 9 wks and had to wait for an appoinment, so i guess by then i was further along. She said the the hospital will contact me for the 12wk scan.

No heartbeat-listening here either - I'm 19 weeks almost now. I've heard it as I have a friend who is a midwife who used her own device on me but none of the midwives I've seen in a professional capacity have done anything to do with the baby, actually! Just been blood pressure, urine sample, weighed twice, blood twice. And of course the scan but that's with the sonographer not the midwife.

Good luck for your scans today girls.

Hope Tattoo is bearing up. Big hugs.

On the subject of listening for heartbeats, they won't try with a Sonicaid until 16 weeks as its hard to find and they don't want you to worry if they can't find it.

    Hi girls,

Im only catching up with the thread from a few days ago, so sorry to hear some of your sad news : ( seems like its been a pretty rough few days. Hope your bearing up and getting the support you need.

Needless to say i am SO terrified that my scans today! 4pm...Originally booked the whole day off but iv come in this morning because i think id of drove my self round the twist at home...counting down the minutes! But did wake with butterflies and knots in my tummy...

Im 12+6 today and Im terrified i have a missed mc i dont know why probably scared myself reading some bits and pieces online, i have no symptoms to suggest otherwise, i think just after trying for so long and wanting it so much its hard to believe its happened. Hard as im trying to bond with bubba but trying not to at the same time you know, just incase...but after today i think i will have a more positive attitude as fingers crossed il be out of the "danger zone". You know what i mean. Tried using a doppler thingy and couldnt hear anything, before you all say its too early! I know i know but im to eager! Even on the box it says use between 14-16 weeks but reviews on amazon were saying most could use it from 12 weeks so that worried me slightly. Im a panicker always have been always will and this is just the start!!!!

Fingers crossed please girls, would like to bring a little happiness here if i can...will keep you posted.xxx
