My Ex did exactly what you wanted to in December, already had Sky talk with BT rental but she didn't have to pay £39 setup fee
Just tried my account, only have BB at the moment (Line rental with IDNET £14.29 inc 5 hrs calls no setup charge landline or mobile) and I dont get a fee added for freetime or anytime calls with or without rental.
May be worth you trying to upgrade online0 -

Me as well, best value phone deal that I have found, also a great company with UK based support.
I pay mine annually to get it even cheaper.0 -
If you are on a standard BT tariff it should be beneficial to pay line rental one year in advance. The price is £120/year (equivalent to £10/month) compared to £13.60/month (increasing to £13.90 in April or £166.80/year from then). This is a far bigger saving than you are likely to earn from leaving the money in the bank.
Note. If you are on any special rates, it would revert to the standard package rates and you may lose out. Check the full prices first.0 -
However, the saving is offset by the permanent loss of £15/year paper-free discount.Dudley_1066 wrote: »If you are on a standard BT tariff it should be beneficial to pay line rental one year in advance. So you think that the immediate saving of £46.80 may be offset by the paper-free discount over the following 3 years if BT don't offer the 12 month prepay again at the end of 12 months?
I am seriously tempted by the 12 month thing.
I am p****d off with BT though as last month I discovered that I had lost my paper-free billing discount. I rang to complain and they told me the T&Cs had changed and I no longer got it. Now I just checked my latest bill and I do get it so have had to ring up to get the previous 3 months credited for paper-free billing.
I also asked about the 12 month prepay and he said that after 12 months I would be entitled to paper-free discount as I had it previously. I don't trust any of them!0 -

Just seen the price increases and post that suggests contracts can be got out of for free (sorry for the terrible grammar)(post 20)
I've been trying to work out what my line rental will go up to. I'm on Weekends and Evenings FREE, 12 month rolling contract (NOT Line Rental Saver) and my monthly rental appears (reading my bill is a bit tricky) to be £13.29 per month (16.28-2.99) -£1.25 for paper-free billing. I'm guessing this will go up to £17-2.99 = £13.99? Does that sound correct?0 -

Correct -Except that its now £13.60 pm after the VAT increase in January and will go to £13.90 pm after April before paperless bill discount.0 -
Bit confused (not easy for me with BT); but the £16.28 IS my increased VAT charge. What I have noticed is that since the end of my "first 12 month contract" they're stopped the £2.99 "Unlimited Weekend and Evening Plan Deal Credit". The !!!!!!s.0

I am on Unlimited Anytime plan paying £18.60 (£13.60 -Line Rental + £5.00 - Unlimited Anytime)
With price increase listed here http://www.calls.bt.com/pricechanges/?s_intcid=con_intban_YA_PYA_Price
the line rental is increasing from £13.60 to £13.90 but the cost of unlimited anytime package is decreasing from £5.00 to £4.70, so I assume my overall plan cost will remain the same £18.60.
So, can I get out of my contract (8 months into my 12 month contract) without any penalty?0
