I did a search and couldn't find anything - I was looking at my bill online and there was a small link at the side noting that BT are increasing prices from April 2011, details are here:
www .calls.bt.com/pricechanges/?s_intcid=con_intban_YA_PCYA_Price
Are those customers which are under contract allowed to leave if this increase is detremental to them without penalty?

Increasing again, (notice they say "some of our prices are changing" , not they are increasing!), no change there then, this company are a bunch of crooks!

So the minimum charge for a UK call becomes 20p.
BT really really wants everyone on the Anytime 'plan'. Cheaper if you make more than one call a day in the daytime Mon-Fri hours. You'll be pleased to know that we're reducing the price of the Unlimited Anytime Plan. If you currently pay £5.00, as of the 28th April [2011] you will only pay £4.70 a month. With the Unlimited Anytime Plan you get unlimited calls to UK landlines and 0845/0870 numbers at any time of the day. You can avoid the price increase to set up fee and daytime pence per minute charge by signing up to this plan. This is because the set up fee and daytime pence per minute increase will only affect calls that are not part of your calling plan. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. BT, O2, Virgin.
It's a bluddy cartel!
Talk Talk and Sky within a day or so?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! - so rental charge increases for the 4th time in just over a year!!!
And anyone who uses BT for occasional daytime calls must be nuts -go over 11 minutes and it will be £1 +. 18185 may not be perfect - but a 56 minute call yesterday morning - 5p!!!
EDIT: When was this announced? I've just looked at my last bill dated 26th Jan. and there's nothing on there about April increase? Surprised there hasn't been a bigger reaction!!0 -

It wasn't - I was on my online account (telephone) and tucked away at the very bottom on the right hand side of the page down where the links are to change your packages etc was a link button saying something along the lines of upcoming changes to your service which I actually clicked on in error. No mention of price increase or anything to bring it to your attention, or in an easy to see location.
I did a live chat with a BT customer services rep and even they hadn't been briefed on it yet!
Having googled, I only discovered there was a price increase in October which I was not written to about or notified on any bill or correspondence.

Presumably they'll be shortly sending out their infamous "Good News!" emails........0

Intrestingly I currently receive the discount of a £1 for receiving a paperless bill. If you pay the £120 up front for the whole rental year and then you to wish to revert back to a monthly direct debit after 12 months then you are classed as a new customer and therefore you are not entiled to a discount. BT will proably increase the yearly rental substaintially0

It's £1.25/month but you're right, that is withdrawn when you take up the Line Rental Saver option (which reduces its saving considerably).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. So how long before talktalk increase theirs? A day or so?
PS Am I right in saying that a daytime local call of, say, 20 sec. duration will cost 21p unless you are on their anytime calling plan?
PS It's very clear that BT have a huge pension black hole to fill, not forgetting the totally out of kilter pay rises their staff are to receive over the next couple of years.0
