I work part time in retail, rubbish job and rubbish money :rotfl:
OH is the main earner in our house and is a security officer which he loves!Babies only need food, nappies and love so try not to worry about all the stuff mother care says you should have .HTH
Thank you!! I think half the problem is places like Mothercare telling you that you need all this fancy expensive equipment. We are very lucky in that we have already been given quite a few bits, I have used vouchers to get wipes and nappies so we dont have to buy them all in one go.
I wish I could be more like my OH sometimes as I can get myself into a right panic when theres no need!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

I'm the same as you. So many mags and shops with lovely displays saying you need this and that. Thankfully, my mother has helped me see sense. My baby will be fine, without all of the extra bits. I've been given a changing unit - But I'm just using the mat, I won a nappy bin thing in a competition - I've sold it! 9p Nappy bags will do the job fine! My DH still thinks we're being OTT by having things like a carseat  and sterliser!! But I'l forgive him, he's not British!
I neglected to mention my job, i'm a fraud analyst looking for naughty people lying!:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0 -

I do in early spring with tree pollens.. it is ok now.. but I am so stuffed up today and the sneezing has set my back right off and I haven't a drug in the house.. apart from DD4's calpol so I am a right whingebag today.. I am sick of hearing myself!!!
And I only have kitchen roll so my nose is sore already
And does OH care??? ... does he flip... he hasn't even made me a cuppaI'd cry but that will just make me feel worse...
I have a panic about where we will put this one.. Squeak is still in with us because there is nowhere else to put her!! I am hoping to get her in the girls room once it is decorated.. possibly August time.. but I think I may struggle with the decorating.. but.. needs must!
Money wise.. OH is struggling to find work, I don't have time! so we ae fairly strapped.. esp as KH doesn't pay a bean towards the children.. roll on April!!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks Smiley- It is a good job , perhaps why Im annoyed that my replacement has already got her feet under the table , lol Oh I just love the hormones. Flower- I think its good to have one "it'll all work out " person in the relationship and one " oh god , how will we cope " panicker in the relationship. Another thing that mother care keep to themselves is not all babies like the same stuff. My nephew was scared rigid in his £100 baby swing and much prefered being bounced up and down in his £22 bouncey chair. If youve been given things or bought them for a good price or second hand it doesnt matter as much if baby doesnt use or like themThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Flower08 I am the same!
I have been in a panic about it all and how that baby is going to rely on us to look after him and what if Im not good enough. My husband is the one worrying about money but that is because he works and attends college so has to pay for his course which is over £600 before September so he is stressed! I keep telling him it will be ok/it will work out/ we will save money if I can breastfeed lol.
All of the bosses sound so lovely lol. My OH's boss keeps telling him that our due date doesnt work with her schedule because there are 2 men going to be on paternity leave around the same time as we are due a few days apart. I keep saying in reply that OH's bosses night shifts dont work with my schedule but you know
smiley my OH is the same! He keeps saying "in the old days they slept on hay! :rotfl:They didnt have these things like we have these days so how is everything needed." But he is a worrier with money right now lol. I was showing him some nursing chairs that Ive been looking at second hand and he was stressing about the money but I will be getting one I think!:j0 -
Lab- that does sound fantastic! I'd love it
I work as a photographer, and I also do office work. Photography's great, but doesn't pay wonderfully, so occasionally I've taken on a few students.
Flower08- don't panic. You will manage. Ideally, I'd love to decide to have children when I've a nursery I could decorate, a nanny for help, and 25k in the bank for it's upbringing.....0 -
Flower although babies and children do seem to cost a lot it all balances out with the changes that parenthood bring. The cost of nights out and socializing diminish as you have to factor in where is actually suitable for baby to go to so you find that you more often have friends round to yours and vice versa. You will probably cook every meal from scratch too so that you know exactly what your baby is eating which saves a fortune.0

Ooh exciting job! That sounds really interesting smiley!
My OH doesn't understand why we need half the stuff we have but to be fair we've been given an awful lot so have hardly had to buy anything ourselves!
Im starving and the sandwich man hasn't turned up - sob!
Ooh scrap that he's just coming out of lift - off to get a munch!:D:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Thank you for all the reassurances
for some reason it seems to go into my head a bit more to hear other pregnant women sharing my concerns and reasurring that it will be fine, instead of OHs 'it'll be fine' :rotfl:
