    Hi all,

Thanks so much for the kind wishes - day 1 has gone well and they said reconstructive work on the esophagus won't be as intensive as they thought, this is good news. Also won't take as long as 4 days so maybe we'll get more updates tomorrow and then she can get moved to recovery section for a few weeks.
She will be coming to by the weekend hopefully!

    Hi All,

MrsS Hope you are feeling a little better with the pain and that you get good results from the blood tests tomorrow! I am afraid i dont have any advice about asking for induction as this is our first but am sending hugs :)

Flower congratulations on team blue :)

sequina nice to see you, how are things going?

BCS hope the insulin treats you better than the tablets

Koala thank you as always for the advice even though its not always directed at me, i always read your posts and file them away for future reference, although pregnancy brain might push it all out again :)

PP hope that squeak is nice and well behaved for you tomorrow so you can rest and hopefully feel some more movement

Winnie sorry you were stuck in the bath! How are you doing now? maybe you should take your mobile with you from now on :)

    hi to all newbies

I'm totally worn out today, been at a trade show all day so a combination of being on my feet, entertaining to customers, helpful to everyone else and pregnant with a trapped nerve means im at the end of my tether and in a whole bunch of pain. But not long til bed time and i will be able to rest a bit :) On the plus side Elvis has been jumping around like mad and i've really enjoyed that :)

Glad you had a good Puzzled and that your little one is so active :D. I often worry that I just come across as an incoherent rambler so am really pleased that sometimes I must actually make a bit of sense :o :rotfl:

Sparkle that is brilliant that the first day has gone so well for your mum and I really hope that everything continues in this way for her. :). Please don't forget to worry about yourself though and make sure you are properly looked after during your mums surgery :o

MrsS I have no idea how things have moved along in the treatment of the antibody incompatibility as my mum was the only person that I had ever known before to have it but after my brother was born and had so many complications they insisted that all her future deliveries were induced at 38 weeks as back then it was seen as safer but that was a very long time ago unfortunately and may no longer be reliable information. :o

Ok, well I will keep that in mind then and secretly hope that they still induce early for that anyway ... MW and GP certainly haven't mentioned anything about early induction based on that alone, but I guess it also isn't their call - hence the consultant tomorrow. I've just managed swimming club with 2 of the kids ... had to leave the bigger one there on her own. I'm in pieces now ... absolute agony ... can't even take anymore codeine yet :(

I just remembered something that I found out earlier this week and meant to post about! :o. For those with children under 3 who are really struggling with pregnancy complications including bad SPD you can ask your health visitor to assess your family situation and they can refer you for temporary places at your nearest council nursery that caters for infants and toddlers if they feel that it would your family. I don't know all of the details as my little guy is still attending his usual nursery part time for now so it wasn't really relevant to me but it may be worth asking your mw about if you think it would maybe be an option for you. :D

Well what an eventful afternoon I've had! I went to see MW who did all the usual checks...Felt bump & thought baby might be breech! So after a quick call to the hospital they said I could be seen within the hour so had a mad rush home, rang hubby & told him to leave work if he wanted to come with me then had to dash over to City Hospital. Had a scan & thankfully baby is head down. But boy what a mad hour & a half that was! I just kept thinking this will be just my luck now to be having a breech baby.

So the plan is to wait & see if I labour naturally. If not then they will def be booking me in for a section next week. I'm beginning to think I should have just said I'll have a section from the off as all I've heard is section, section, section. If you have any complications then you will have a section,if you go over then you will have a section,if the baby is breech you will have a section! :rotfl: Are you getting this pattern? Lol!
Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!

Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:

Koala you make loads of sense to me, but then i've never been proven sane or normal so im not sure if i can speak for the larger population of MSE :)

Has anyone got any idea of the kind of budgets they have for themselves on maternity leave? OH and i are planning money and things and think we are going to be able to cope with me having 2 years off :)

I have a bit of savings that i've been keeping back for maternity for pretties and things like going for coffee with friends so that i dont need to ask OH for money, but i have no idea how much i should be estimating for a week so that i know how long the pennies will last.

Gosh, read that back 3 times and edited and it still doesnt make sense and i know what im trying to say, hopefully someone can deciper it???

Becky I do indeed see a bit of a pattern emerging there! :rotfl: have you previously had a section or will this be your first one?

Puzzled sorry I am really not sure about budgeting we will be going down to one income as well as the cost of childcare for us will be at the point where I would be just about working for nothing which is a bit silly when you factor in the additional stresses that childcare brings with it. :o. It is going to be a steep learning curve for us but we will unfortunately just have to figure it out as we are going along

Becky.. unless the baby is actually at risk or you of course.. you can refuse a section.. they just like doing them as they are in control.. they don't like women turning up at inconvenient times! There is no way on earth I would consent to a section unless me, the baby or both of us would die!
