This probably won't help you any but am trying to be helpful as I can.....I have always been told that the readings of concern are the ones over 12 as this is the point where ketoacidosis generally begins so if you are getting readings of under 12 then try not to panic too much.

Unfortunately AP the morning sickness seems to run in my mothers family....but looking at the bigger picture it's a tiny price to pay for my beautiful children. :D

I've not had any over 12 thankfully but am worrying due to what i've been told so far..

In my Accu check diary it says that before meal readings must be less than 5.5 & 1 hour after meal readings must be less than 7.8.

The nurse at the clinic said if I get 3 reading higher than that I should phone & they would start me on meds.

My fasting readings have been 6.5 & 6.7.

    My after meal readings have been 11.6, 9.8, 11.5, 6.4, 10.9, 10.5, 7.4 & 7.8.

Maybe gestational diabetes is different than regular. :o

I have a growth scan Wednesday & my first official clinic appointment on Thursday (a 3 hour one) where I will see a dietician amongst many other people.

I'm hoping that it will be easier to meal plan once i've seen the dietician as it's causing me headaches atm. :o

I had bad morning sickness with my 1st son, infact I was still being sick whilst in labour.

Luckily i've only had it for the 1st 3 months with the others. :A

I do however hemorrhage badly after giving birth & have to have a blood transfusion. :(

    I agree it's worthwhile though as I have 3 beautiful children. :D

Sorry BCS I worded that terribly. :(. I certainly wouldn't be happy with the readings you are getting and more importantly neither would the team looking after me to the extent that I would have been admitted as an inpatient until they had it stabilized. But the reading of 12 that I mentioned is where your body is not coping with excess sugar to the extent where it stops processing the food you ingest and instead starts effectively eating itself and the by product of this is ketones which are hazardous for baby. :(

I really appreciate all the advice you have given me km. :A

It's all new & frightening to me atm & I guess I could be over reacting as the way the nurse explained how my sugar levels effect the baby have really worried me.

I don't want my baby being poorly after he is born & i'm trying my best to get my levels down but despite practically eating as healthy as possible I don't seem to be having any effect & I can't understand what i'm doing wrong. :(

    Oh....my...goodness....

I have no worthy contribution than the above.

    Poor you!

I probably shouldn't mention that the women on my mothers side (including me obviously) don't experience morning sickness...we get really bad SPD though!

I don't do sickness either, nor did my mum.. Our kidneys pack up though.. I think I'd rather have a few weeks of being sick (even if that 'few' was 40) than my kidneys fail.. that is seriously painful.. esp. when the useless morons at the hospitals tell you you are lying and there is nothing wrong!

One of my friends was sick as 3 parrots with all 3 of her children.. one was forceps delivery and the doc was dragging out the baby and she was throwing up at the other end.. the second the baby was out all was fixed though, it was miraculous!

BCS they will get it all stabilized for you long before your little guy arrives...I know that it won't peel like it just now but you will get there and everything will be fine. :)

Just popped in for a nosey and wanted to give BCS a hug, I'm a Type 2 diabetic which made pregnancy interesting.

Have you looked at the Low GI way of eating at all? As Branflakes are actually classed as a High GI food. Porridge is a better bet.

Hope you get some answers soon.
