Vroom, I know it feels like it's taking ages, but won't be that long..... Hope curry helped!
I had a great start to the day- out for a walk round the outside of the building with my boss as it's a great morning, and took a bad dizzy spell- his car was closest, so took a seat in it for a few mins- hate low blood pressure. Now practically hugging an oil heater, as I can't seem to warm up, lol.0 -
Hi Ladies,
I haven't posted for AGES!
Firstly I was sent to hospital by my community midwife on Weds 13th due to high BP and proteins in urine at a routine ante natal check. The hospital then did bloods and all manner of other tests, diagnosed pre eclamsia and decided to keep me in for monitoring overnight to see if it got worse or better to then decide whether to induce or not as I was only a week away from EDD
Next day, Thursday, the doctors decided to keep me in for another 24 hour monitoring.
Friday, as the pre eclamsia was getting worse they decided to induce and gave me the pessary. Was in pain all day and night and thought that was it, I was about to go inot labour etc. Then the pain stopped (typical)
Saturday - they were going to induce me again but they were busy in the labout ward (lol) so decided to induce me Sunday morning. However the ladies in labour must have pushed harder than expected as I was actually induced Saturday night.
Sunday morning I was dilated 4cm so off to the labour ward I went. Had G&A and then epidural. When I was fully dilated pushed bubs for 40 mins but his heart rate was dropping really low when I was pushing and then whizzing back up when I stopped so the midwife called in a doctor who decided on an emergency caesarean.
They wheeled me into theatre. As my epidural had to be topped up which would take about 10 to 15 mins the doctor decided to try again 1 more push with forceps. So I pushed, he pulled and out bubs popped. I had to have a full episiostomy too.
So bubs was born 17/4 at 16.12, which makes me a queue jumper (sorry!) He doesn't have a name as yet, (naughty mummy!) but we are working on it.
The birth was quite difficult and forceps and episiostomy were not want I wanted but preferable to a caesarean (I think?)
I was then kept in hospital for 4 days after as my BP, bloods, urine etc would not return to normal. Apparently theres a danger that pre eclmasia can turn to eclamsia.
I came home from hospital last Wednesday and have spent the last week in a daze! I am BFing which I am finding really hard. Not the BFing itself but the demand that it puts on me, he's currently feeding about 10 times a day. Of course other people can do nappies etc but only I can feed him! I have expressed a couple of times and OH has givin him a bottle of expressed milk but whether you have a baby or a pump attached to you, its still the same amount of time spent, if that makes sense!
Also in lots of pain from the episiostomy stitches which means I can't sit down, just lie down or stand. So currently BFing lying down!
As a first time mum I'm finding it difficult sometimes knowing why he is crying. I check nappy, check if he is hungry, cuddle him, play with him, see if he has wind, all the usual stuff but still he cries!
Anyway, I will read back over what I have missed when I get a spare half hour.
Hugs or labour vibes to those in need. x xBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -

Oh ice - sounds like you went through the mill a bit but congrats on baby arriving!! :j And what a queue jumper you are!!
I hope the feeding gets easier soon - I can't imagine how difficult the whole thing is, being a new mum, what a change to your life it is. It will get easier though.
xDxFear is temporary, regret is forever.....:happyhear Baby girl born 27th September - 10 days late!! :happyhear0 -
Good morning everybody.hope everybody is doing well.
Charlie I hope the day goes well for you and you are getting to hold your beautiful baby very soon.
Lirin I know it won't be much help to you just now but I too historically have very low blood pressure which decreases even further in pregnancy but this time and with my younger son it started increasing slightly at 30 weeks....I have taken it as a good sign as the dizziness and faintness stop but not sure if it was ever heading to be anything to worry about as my little guy made his appearance a few weeks later when it was still increasing but still within normal ranges but will let you know if it becomes a concern this time as this baby IS staying to term. :rotfl:
Doglover I too bought the Tommee Tippee sterilizer as it is more compact and I had to buy one last time when my Avent one went into meltdown with all of the bottles in it on my kitchen worktop......emergency trip to our local Tescos with 2 children in tow at 23:30 on a Sunday night is now a standing joke but was not quite so funny at the time! :rotfl:0 -
Congratulations Ice, I hope it gets much easier for you. Let us know what name you choose.0

Ice I am sorry you had such a difficult delivery and are still suffering badly now:(. Not sure if it will be any help but I remember my mum always taking the air filled rubber ring things that we had in our paddling pool to sit on after the arrival of two of my siblings and I think that it may be because of stitching? I never asked her at the time as I was under 10 and it was summer holidays but will ask her today as they went everywhere with her including in the car to the supermarket.
You sound like you are coping brilliantly with your baby boy so please don't sell yourself short on that front!. If it helps any I think all mothers find themselves in a bit of a stress trying to work out why baby is crying no matter how many children they have but sometimes they just cry and nobody can figure out why and that is the best time to put them in their pram and send OH out with them for a walk to give you a chance to rest a bit and calm down.
.
Please remember to be kind to yourself0 -
Congratulations Ice xx :jLeo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0

Hi Ladies
Midwife couldn't perform sweep yesterday as cervix too posterior:( thought I was ok with it but it actually hit me quite hard yesterday afternoon so was a bit of a bubbling wrecklooks like I'll be hanging on 'til next Wednesday when I am booked in for an induction.
Never phoned doc about throat yesterday but wish I had as I was up every 20 mins last night in pain so have appointment this morning to get some anti b's, in hindsight it's probably just as well sweep didn't happen as I do feel pretty unwell so better to get my strength back a bit.
Ice sounds like you are doing a brilliant job, it will get easier really feel for you that you never got the labour you wanted but your wee man is here now!:)
All the best Charlie for today, in fact you may be getting Mummy cuddles by now!!
Vroom hope things are starting for you now too!
Nic keeping fingers crossed that today is your day too.
I apologise if I have missed anything, just had a quick scan back so take care everyone.x"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
