Wend, I know, how scary! i have resigned myself to the fact that by the end of the month I will be holidng my wee man.

Can I just ask people's opinions on something. OH's sisters have told me to ring them/text them when I go into labour and they will come down (OH's parents have booked a week holiday next week - thats a different rant), but being honest I dont want them there. I'm texting my mum to let her know, but she isnt coming down unless I have to stay in. I just want in to be me and my OH. Do you think its bad if I text everyone once I'm out of hospital and at home? x

visitors are not allowed on labour wards because of infection risks.. so it would be pointless them coming.. just text everyone once you are home or whenever you feel ready.

ps has anyone else had to have a smear test during pregnancy? I had a bit of a scare with spotting on the weekend and now placenta has been found high and safe I've been told that I have to have a test sooner rather than later... :(
still at least baby is happy and healthy and bang on all the growth lines xx

they don't advise them during pregnancy as there is an increased blood supply to the cervis which often gives inaccurate results.. they say wait until the 6 week check usually.

It can also introduce infection which can cause prem labour

Just out of interest, I know someone who is having their 4th baby. She isnt living with the other 3 and this one has a different dad. She had the £500 grant with the others but will she get it with this one? Or is it only after the new rule came in and your first baby after that? Not sure I make sense :o

!!! Can't believe your friend was entitled to £500 for each kid! Thought it was just the first one. They've done away with it now, and I can see why now. I wasn't entitled, I missed out by a few weeks.

They are quite territorial, they go through stages of fighting each other but then can be quite peaceful for a while. There is no way OH will water change one a week, he says he doenst have time and there is no way I will do it! lol they are quite big and i've had one of them for nearly 5 years, they are much easier to keep than normal tropical fish :)

There will be more bullying in a smaller group, but in that size tank you don't have room to add anymore anyway :)

Not being funny but they would be easy to keep if you don't change the water and clean the glass every week :rotfl:We find it doesn't take that long to do a 50% waterchange and gravel vac every week, as well as a clean around the glass. Can do it all in about half hour- 40 mins and it is so beneficial to the fish.

Anyway, sorry everyone, back to babies now!

Forumgrazer - lovely piccie! Time should fly by now :)

Well I've done my last minute bits and pieces and now I'm going to have a long soak in the bath before ringing the hospital to see what time I have to go in.

Feeling a lot better now after all the well wishes (thanks ladies!) and the reassurances that no matter what happens I'll be ok. OH has been saying it the whole time but I guess I just needed to hear it off women who have gone through or about to go through it themselves!

    go team yellow! 999.gif

It does mean that we've still got to trawl through all names... will probably stay 'Rex' now and forever even if it is a little girl.

Lovely picture forumgrazer and yay for team yellow! We're team yellow and my bump has been referred to as Alfalfa (same as username) throughout my pregnancy. No idea why though, think it was said once and just stuck. I think our baby will always be known as Alfalfa even after it's born!

Supermaiden – money is always a worry around this time. My OH is lucky that he gets a week full paid but he is doing the other week as holiday as we can’t afford to drop that much.

Galvanizer – i got two fitted moses basket sheets for £6 from Dunhelm Mill.

Forumgrazer – lovely scan pic, very detailed, glad all is well!

Yep it is pretty crap!! My DH is having to take it as hols as he would be losing far too much money over the 2 weeks and we just couldn't afford it.

We've done the same, OH has taken hols instead of paternity leave as the money was simply crap. His work have been pretty flexible with the hols and said as soon as the baby comes he can have two weeks off. Because the way his shifts have worked out it means he's been off from wednesday last week and won't go back until beginning of May. :j

lol! nor us - we will get child benefit for baby until 2013 or whenever it is the government plan to get rid of it for households with incomes over the threshold.

I take it that means I won't be able to claim the £500 grant either? It really annoys me actually, without turning this into a huge benefits debate, because we both work we get sweet f.a and will struggle whilst Im on ML! I should have just quit work when I found out I was pregnant and got my rent & council tax paid and I would be in a much better position!

    Rant over.
