    Afternoon ladies

Been for my GTT this morning - how boring waiting at the hospital for 2 hours but went prepared with magazines etc. The drink was nasty and dayglo yellow but OK when washed down with water.

Amazing how impatient some people can be though. Many were there for the same reason as me knowing that they would be there for a 2 hour wait but proper kicking off about having to wait around, paying the parking (only £3 so not too bad) and what was the point of it all when they dodn't have anything wrong with them. I do have to say it was mostly the partners who were whining and one couple even got up and left and didn't come back for her second test. How silly!

Should have my results at the midwife on Tuesday hopefully.

    Hope everyone is doing OK.

    Emma

I was quite lucky with my test as I was able to arrange with my midwife to have lucozade which I brought myself and drunk at 7.15am yesterday morning and then went to see her 2 hours later to have the bloods and urine taken (so didn't have to wait around anywhere as such)
She called last night to say the results came back fine - no diabetes for me.
I didn't mind having it for peace of mind but my midwife did say that the consultant seemed to send everyone for a GLT and it wasn't really necessary.

    I haven't been offered one either ;)

According to my midwife in my area it seems if you are under a consultant you will be offered the test regardless (I am down for elective c section so under the consultant)
If not you will only be offered the test if something if you have any of the risk factors (high BMI, family history of diabetes, expecting twins etc...)

Hello All, Havent been around for ages but wanted to post the news anyway
my baby Tyler was born on 6th April weighing in at a rather respectable 10lb 3oz!! - cant say I was expecting that neither was any of the mw's lol.
Anyway short birth story - idnt get my home birth - Contractions started in Morning went to hosp at 12.30 who confirmed still only 2cm went for lunch and chill out in the sun returned back to hosp at about 5.30 when a bit more painful got into a room about 7.30pm pains thick and strong so asked for Gas and air midwife told me she'd check my dilation in 2 hours as she wanted me to move rooms - moved into a different room, needed to push (3 times) and at 8.46pm out he came lol
Was difficult in the last bits due to his size and my size (being the small person I am) but we are now home and healthy
Thanks to all the support ive received from you lot xxxxx

Congrats annibee on your not so small little chap! :T

It's strange though, because i have a friend due on the same day as me, under the same PCT, and we both saw our consultant in January. She was given her GTT appointment at her consultant appointment. I didn't even get it mentioned to me at mine. I was then discharged by my consultant back to midwife-led only. I don't know if she has or not, so unless that is the only reason why, it seems odd. Not that I want one or anything.

Does your friend have any of the risk factors regardless of being under consultant care i.e. above average BMI, family history of diabetes etc... - will she remain under this consultant whilst your care will now be midwife led?

Is it the same consultant you were both seeing?

I can only go by what the community midwife said to me about my particular consultant, which wasn't a particularly professional comment to make I thought.
It was no skin off my nose to have the test although I could have declined it tbh but I wouldn't have worried too much had I not been offered it.

Don't know - she was just as puzzled that she had been given an appointment and I hadn't. I'm not bothered - I've never had one before either.

Wahoo annibee! Congrats on the safe arrival of Tyler! I was wondering how my bump buddy was doing the other day. Hope you are both well and enjoying lots of cuddles.

Well, looks like I'm top of the list all by myself... Long walk has had no effect yet, all it's done is make my feet swollen and I've probably gained a few pounds from the pie and ice cream!
