I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

    Afternoon ladies

Been for my GTT this morning - how boring waiting at the hospital for 2 hours but went prepared with magazines etc. The drink was nasty and dayglo yellow but OK when washed down with water.

Amazing how impatient some people can be though. Many were there for the same reason as me knowing that they would be there for a 2 hour wait but proper kicking off about having to wait around, paying the parking (only £3 so not too bad) and what was the point of it all when they dodn't have anything wrong with them. I do have to say it was mostly the partners who were whining and one couple even got up and left and didn't come back for her second test. How silly!

Should have my results at the midwife on Tuesday hopefully.

    Hope everyone is doing OK.

Glad you managed to order the cot Supermaiden!

Mrsspendalot - that is awful about your card. Good that its only £30 but very worrying all the same.

I have just been for a walk up the hill to the post office and went in the charity shop and got a book on how to have a baby haha.

    Congratulations Annibee!

Hello All, Havent been around for ages but wanted to post the news anyway
my baby Tyler was born on 6th April weighing in at a rather respectable 10lb 3oz!! - cant say I was expecting that neither was any of the mw's lol.
Anyway short birth story - idnt get my home birth - Contractions started in Morning went to hosp at 12.30 who confirmed still only 2cm went for lunch and chill out in the sun returned back to hosp at about 5.30 when a bit more painful got into a room about 7.30pm pains thick and strong so asked for Gas and air midwife told me she'd check my dilation in 2 hours as she wanted me to move rooms - moved into a different room, needed to push (3 times) and at 8.46pm out he came lol
Was difficult in the last bits due to his size and my size (being the small person I am) but we are now home and healthy
Thanks to all the support ive received from you lot xxxxx

Congrats Annibee!! Wow he has grown very well lol, great birth story though! Welcome Tyler xx

    I'm 8th on the list:eek:

Random question, does anyone know if I worked 8 hrs per week whilst on maternity leave it would affect my maternity pay? (only asking as OH's cousin is opening a new pub in June and has offered me 8 hrs a week if I want to do it :D)

I don't think you can legally work & claim SMP at the same time (apart from 10 KIT days with your current employer)

I may be wrong though so best to double check!
