Apologies to the bumps and babes who I have completely ignored - congrats to everyone who has birthed since I was last here and welcome to the newbies.

I have a general pregnancy question.

This is my first baby (I'm 14+3) and I want to know when the panic/anxiety stops?!

This is a much wanted child and we have been fortunate enough to not experience any miscarriages in the past, and for the first 12 weeks I held my breath, thinking 'I just have to make it to the scan and once I see everything is ok, I'll stop worrying'. Well, I'm still worrying!

Now it's 'well if I can make it to the 20 week scan, I'll stop worrying' but no doubt that'll be followed by 'if I can make it to 23 weeks' and then 'if I can make it to term'.

Please tell me this anxiety will ease off, I think I may go crazy with irrational fear otherwise!!!

    Hi and welcome :hello:

I felt a lot better after i reached the 24 weeks stage. You always have a worry and a niggle. Even now I have panics about my kids, there is always something to worry about.

But as you get into the 3rd trimester things calm down.

If you are really anxious, have a word with your MW. Sometimes we are guilty of reading too many books, forums and googling and its not always good.

welcome - it's not always like this honest! felt i should reply to you (and ignoring all the chaos) so you may return one day....

nope the anxiety will NEVER ease off.... once they start booting you and rearranging your insides you can start to relax. but even then you get scared days when they sleep for longer then you expect. believe me - 2 and a bit weeks till eviction day and i won't be happy till he's in my arms.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I'd agree with stepping away from google! After the 20 week scan is when any anxiety calmed down for me.

Hello sweets, sorry for the atmosphere surrounding your first post - it's not always like this :) Welcome and congrats on your Bubs!! I can only speak for myself but I found I did manage to relax when I started feeling movements - the 20 week scan also helped! Sorrry if that doesn't help much - hope all goes well for you! x

PP - you referred to children who disobey teachers, rules that parents set as little $hits.

no.. I said the reason children are little !!!!!! is because the parent in quetion was encouraging her child to break school rules

I assume that you are tarring your DD with the same little !!!!!! status, and therefore you are not encouraging her to behave as you posted about other parents last night.

I expect my children to do as the school/teachers/adults in authority state.. which is all I have said ever

If things are so bad then why the hell have YOU let things fester. Yes you, not GP's, counsellors, school etc.

Actually she has been seen by various people and knows just when to turn on the charm.. it takes a while for any child to get comfortable with a new face and act like themselves so when they have done these supposed assessments she has been the perfect child.. and we get outside and she becomes herself.

Oh and whoever said perhaps PP doesn't get a breather....hopefully she'll sort her contraception out or abstain for a few months after this pregnancy.

I get plenty of free time thank you.. obviously ;):p

I was good up to and after my 20 week scan. Then everything went t!ts up when I heard about celebrities losing their baby later on in pregnancy. I think Amanda Holdens sad loss sent me into a spiral.

I've not relaxed since. I have 28 days left and i'm on egg shells just trying to get through each day trying to relax for bubs' sake really.

I'd say chill as much as is possible but in the words of her off Corrie 'nothing is certain until you have that baby in your arms'.

So that's what i'm waiting for.

I am so glad to hear that! I was going to actually make my second post on here, but by the time I had read everything I completely forgot what I was going to ask. Can I blame preganncy brain when I'm only 13+2? :rotfl:

I feel like I am constantly counting down the days. I was counting down the days til 12 week scan, and now I'm counting down the days til 20 week scan!

Pregnancy is great for blaming everything on....eating doughnuts, McDonalds etc etc! You still count every day and week,I'm 29+2.

When baby arrives do you suddenly not know how many weeks it was etc, just it just go out of your mind lol!
