I didnt realised you put it in just 'before' i thought it stayed there. i really dont know much about anything other than the combined pill and condoms.

Is depo the injection you get every 3 months? I thought that would be the best option for me other than pill and condoms as I kept forgetting the pill, but ive spent years trying to shift a few extra stone. Ive managed to lose all of it a couple of years ago, and want to get back down after this baby, I dont want to have excess weight gain.
Ill wait and see what the GP suggests at my 6 week check.

yes depo is every 3 months but it made me put on loads of weight......I think abstention is the only way :D

I used TENS first time round and didn't find it useful at all .... I certainly personally wouldn't spend any money on one, as the hospital have them you can use if you want to try it

I've heard that a lot of people find them useful, so have bought one on eBay hoping it will help me too.
It's brand new and a fraction of the price of a new one in the shops (the old owner went in for tests that came back that she needed to be induced immediately and went into labour that night, so didn't ever use it).
It was only a bit more than hiring, and we can always try it later on OH's knee or any other aches or pains, and then stick it on eBay to get the money back :rotfl:
I am useless at remembering to return things, and with a newborn I doubt I'll feel up to going to the post office so soon after.

I think different things work for different people, and it's worth giving it a try :D I intend to labour at home as much as I can, and hope the TENS will help me get to sufficient dilation to then go into the birthing pool at hospital :)

My mum had a coil but she said it made her legs really hairy!

Was that the older style copper coil or the new mirena coil (it is plastic and has a small hormone implant in it)?

I've had mirena for years and never had really hairy legs ;)

I found that hormones in my system in larger concentrations such as in depo, or in the pill even, make me really moody and edgy. The amount of hormone in the mirena coil is so low it doesn't have this effect, as it only works locally on the womb and reproductive system, and isn't in your blood system like the other hormone methods. I haven't suffered from weight gain, mood swings or anything from having it like I did with other hormone options.

I don't know I just remember her mentioning it a few years ago :rotfl:it's one of those things that has never left my mind!

Congrats to dusty and any other new mums I've missed.
Sammy that pic was gorgeous.

Still got a bad cold I can't shift, keep having to call in sick or leave early from work as I can't cope. Really fed up with it now :(

I finally caved and booked a gender scan for a week on Sunday as it was getting close to the limit of when you can have them.

Contraception - I'm hoping OH will agree to sterilisation when we're done. I won't go back on the combined pill, I didn't have any issues on it and loved being able to skip periods, but when I came off I realised just how 'suppressed' I was on it and how much it was responsible for the excema type issues I had down there
•
Doesn't appeal to me...a bit er mechanical! you can put in before so you don't spoil the heat of the moment so to speak, but I don't want to put in unnecessarily IYKWIM lol!!

I can't have combined pill because of my BMI and I used to have high blood pressure. Can have mini pill apparently. Means being responsible at 40 and remembering each day!! Thats why I liked the convenience of depo.
I've thought about the cap - my mum's had it in the past and it worked fine for her apparently - know what you mean though about mechanical - sounds a bit messy too :o
