Morning All,
Before is start my moan Labour vibes to all the boldies and thank you to the kind person that posted the list of essentials.
Now for the self indulgent ramble.
I had my consultant appointment this morning and it was horribleHad to have 2 internals, 1 scan and 1 swab (which they didnt tell me what it was for and when i asked they said to check your cervix and that was it) then said that i am high risk for diabetes so GTT testing is a must. Then he was quite scary and said that i have to try to put as little weight on as possible (am only just 87kilos at 15+4 and im 5'8) BMI at booking was 25 so not too bad!
He said i have to really watch what i eat etc and not to go hungry but really think about what im eating and if i need it.
I was feeling pretty carpy anyway because i had to go on my own because OH is at work and i only have 1 friend here who i didnt like to ask (but next time i will!) but now i feel really rubbish becuase im not sure what i can eat or when i can eat and im all confused.
Plus the internals hurt and im all crampy
Sorry, self indulgence over if anyone knows what im allowed to eat would be much appreciated!
Puzzled x0 -
Hugs puzzled not sure if you said but why did you need to see the consultant?
Personally, I would be eating what I felt comfortable in eating - provided you don't eat takeaway and processed carp every day I can't see what the problem is! You need to eat to nurture the baby and every woman puts on weight during pregnancy so I think he was a bit out of order to get you all worked up like that!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Hi ladies
I have spent the last few days trawling through your posts and would love to join what seems like a fab thread.
I am 25 + 5 at the moment, with a baby boy due on 1st of July - it's now all starting to seem a bit more real!!
you're due the same day as me! we don't know what we're having though0 -

Aww bless you, your consultant sounds nice  I hate internals as well. Take some paracetamol to help a little with the cramps.
I think it's silly of him to say to not go hungry, but to not eat more than you need to. If you feel hungry, your body is telling you to eat. I always listen to my body and eat when I am hungry. Some days I eat more than others. Some days I never feel satisfied, others I just feel sick. I'm not sure how much weight I've put on, was shocked when I last got on scales and saw I'd put on a stone, so not braved it since! However I was technically underweight for my BMI. I think I was 67kg to start with, and am almost 5'10". Everyone is different though.
Snack on crackers, fresh fruit like apple etc but be careful of the natural sugars, fat free yogurts etc. I wouldn't go hungry though, it isn't good for your growing baby x0 -

Thanks, it was a bit horrible, especially since ive had a weight issue before (was a size 22 a few years ago and got down to a 14 all on my own over time)
Had to see the consulatant becuase i had CIN3 cells and treatment last year so they wanted to check the cervix and make sure it would stay closed.digitalphase wrote: »Aww bless you, your consultant sounds nice  I hate internals as well. Take some paracetamol to help a little with the cramps.

Oooh, i didnt think about paracetamol, thank you!
I have been trying to eat so healthy, he kinda scared me a little, its probably emphasised that my Gram has just had his second amputation for type 2 diabetes that he hasnt controlled and maybe thats making me worry a little too much.
Also, i think i was more scared by being left on my own for so long, there was a medical student who came and asked loads of questions then went out and spoke to consultant and they came back together, but she was gone for 15 mins and i think that was when i started hyping myself up.
think it all kinda highlighted that im on my own here, i knew i would be and i knew it would be harder than being with my friends and things, but i dont think i knew it would be this hard so soon.
Next time im gonna make sure that OH knows i want him there - im too good at convincing everyone im ok on my own lol
Thank you for the replies.0 -

Afternoon all
Labour vibes to the boldies!
I had my 25 week appointment with the midwife this morning and all was fine - managed to get my MATB1 and she checked my wee/blood pressure etc..all fine.
I was measuring spot on for dates and baby's heartbeat was fast but she said it wasn't a concern as she was clearly kicking out a lot (don't think she liked being measured very much)
I have my appointment for my GTT and my anti d coming up in the next couple of weeks so things are starting to get closer.
Still looking around at houses to rent until we sell our properties but as yet undecided on one so we need to get more decisive soon!0 -

Afternoon ladies
Ice 36 weeks  where is the time going, I'm not far behind you!!
Nic you have to do the right thing for you hun and be comfortable with it, it's a shame you have opted out for your HB but sounds like the best idea in the long run......maybe next time?!!:D
Sorry so many of you are suffering with so much pain, I did have a wee smile when I read about the ladies who, understandably, want early induction.....I want to avoid one at all costs LOL!!!!
Puzzled you consultant sounds like a right eejit  Hope you're feeling a bit better now ((hugs)).
Thanks RBG & Sammy for letting us know how your bundles are doing!
Nothing from Waterbaby...hope that is a very good sign!
And lastly massive labour vibes to all the ladies who need them!
I am feeling pretty uncomfortable today, I have this stitch on my right hand side that just isn't shifting! Never mind on the home stretch now....I am planning on finally looking at getting my bag organised this weekend!!
Oh and lastly since I missed it yesterdaymuller rice are like semen samples...
I've never seen semen looking like that and if I did it certainly wouldn't be coming near me !!!!!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Puzzled sorry to hear about your consultant being so off - eat what you know is good for you when you can, treat yourself sometimes, and try to remember that we're all in the same boat as to cravings and having good and bad days... what does he know!
RBG hi and good to hear from you, sounds like he's a lovely bundle, enjoy!
PigPen I have been really wanting Muller Rice for around a month now and eating around 3 a week - now I won't be able to look at them the same way again... Still have 3 at home and will get more this weekend on the Tesco deal if that's the best deal...
For anyone that likes them, there's a yummy custard one if you can find it!
As to the 23 week old baby and that programme that was on recently about whether they should be premitted to get ongoing treatment to stay alive, I found that very hard to watch. I was born at 24 weeks myself and fortunately I am healthy and have no problems, but so many don't have this luck. That week between 23-24 really really makes a difference. Any parent that has to live through that panic is on such a knife edge. I really want to get past the 24 week stage now myself, I mean I don't think bubs will take after me that way (!) but it will be a relief. I don't think the narrator of the programme was very sensitive, I know it's an issue of cost and stats, but felt it was hard for the parents to make the decision on their own... plus as a male narrator I guess it was harder for him to relate maybe, anyone would find it hard I guess as it's such a unique situation for a parent to be in.:):)
