  • Afternoon ladies!! Hope everyone is ok and the bumps are behaving!
I have just had belated pancakes-couldnt be bothered to make them last night, although did make one for ds 2-only because he wanted to flip it lol then after i had dinner i didnt want to move off the sofa lol
I reeeaaalllyyy need to find some energy so i can start sorting the house out-theres stuff everywhere and it feels all cluttered-must be the nesting :rotfl:
I went to asda yesterday and stocked up on the always night time sanitary towels for after the birth (i hate the maternity pads, so thick and dont stay put lol) they had packs of 28 for £2. I also got some jogging bottoms for £4-they're not bad actually-they don't look like jogging bottoms, but will be handy to put in my bag for after, and also a couple of packs of smartprice 'full' knickers for afterwards-a pack of 5 for £2.50 so i can just chuck them if they get too mucky! and wanted the full knicks in case i end up with my c-section as the other ones sit just where the scar is (after ds 1 i had to send my mum to get me some big knickers cos they were rubbing on my wound!) and also got a pack of flannels to put in for labour (if i end up having to labour-i'm preparing for all eventualities lol) Just need to get a couple of cheap pillows to take in with me as when i was in labour with ds 2 i was told i was only allowed 1 pillow and was sooooo uncomfortable!
Anyway enough of my rambling!! Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day!! xxxx

lablover i couldn't see that you got an answer about sweets for a sore throat. I asked Boots about this a couple of months ago and you can't take strepsils or halls soothers because they contain menthol or something. I ended up getting some glycerin throat pastilles (which they sell in boots) and they worked just fine. Hope you're feeling better.

I had my first antenatal class last night, I'm only 23 weeks so it was a bit early to start them, especially as some of the women were 31 weeks. but it went ok, not as scary as i thought it'd be!

Are you ground floor Lablover the only thing that's concerning me at the moment is knowing that Im going to have to carry baby & pushchair up to first floor everyday. I've got 2 bedrooms & definitely want to buy somewhere next rather than moving to another rental so it's a case of having to put up with it for a few years I guess.

I feel sick, am I correct in my thinking that chocolate may improve the situation?

Ive been there with the horrid rented flat. Mine didnt have central heating , one cr*appy gas fire to heat the whole flat. It was covered in mould and just stank of damp. It was awful , but I couldnt afford to move out, thats when I found MSE and just stashed away as much money as I could every month and put up the cess pit of a flat and finally bought my dream flat.... then 2 weeks after properly moving in I found out I wasnt ill I was pregnant , lol. Prices arent that cheap in my area , we are commuting distance to the city so people buy houses here and travel. A one bed is around 80k , 3 bed semi about 190/200k if you get one needing work done. Still alot cheaper than England tho. I'd love to live further up North , like Elgin or right out on Shetland or Orkney but think my OH would hate it

LL - sorry just realised my post was a bit of a generalisation, Scotland is a massive place :rotfl: Of course somewhere like Edinburgh would be more expensive, but I think to compare Norfolk and Elgin is reasonably fair, at least where we lived in Norfolk, IYSWIM :D

Once I get back to work we shall have to save for a deposit. OH is excellent at DIY and his dad built his own house, so we'd be fine in that respect. Just need to get the mortgage really, plus large deposit.

Deposit is a pain in the backside. We are hoping as second time buyers we will be okay with a 10% deposit , but there are no guarantees. Anyhoo I better get some work done or Il be looking for a new job , lol

Honestly hun, if only it were easier :( In theory they are the landlord's responsibility, but in the case of ours, they shirk it, even though it is in the contract. Along with the fly problem we have to put up with water running down the walls inside the house, damp in the kitchen due to a leaking troughing they wouldnt fix and the drain being too close to the wall so the wall has eroded, a cess pit which stinks all the time (we get next door neighbour's !!!! too), damp in all three bedrooms etc etc etc. All are landlord's responsibility to fix, but he doesn't bother, and there's nothing we can do about it either. That's why we are moving.

You don't know how much longer you'll be there for I'd write them a letter to advise all the sections of the lease they are in breech of and due to these breeches the contract is void and so you have no obligation to pay rent, you will though give them 14 days in which to arrange for workmen to inspect the property and make a start , or you will seek legal advice with a view to withholding rent until the required work is carried out. I would have said stop paying rent till it's done, but you may need a reference for the new place so don't do it just threaten it;)

Congrats to Hitchins, he is just lovely.

Had a sweep at the midwife this morning, that smarted a bit but I guess that means she did the best job she could lol.

Im 2-3cm and cervix is soft. Apparently Im all ready to go, baby is just being very lazy. Got induction date for next Thurs, so annoyed, I really really didnt want to be induced.
