Deb-I didnt find out at my 20 week scan.I want OH to tell me babies flavour after the birth, cant think of anything more special than that , mind you my hormones are all over the place , lol. We have bought a few neutral outfits but have lots of relations who are holding off till baby is born. Asda have loads of bright outfits , organges and greens etc,it doesnt all have to be cream. Plus both OH and I have decided if its a girl he can name her and if its a boy I can name him , OH already has his name picked out , lol. As everyone says time flies by after 20 week scan
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

    Oooh - exciting for you!!

I'm torn whether to find out or not. One part of me says not to and leave it as a lovely surprise when he/she is born. But the other part of me wants to buy the right colours etc - and all the white/cream/lemon/mint things we buy beforehand then won't get used.

Tough one. And MIL insists we're not to find out (although she's telling everyone she's having a grandson - called Sam ) - which makes me want to find out just to pee her off!!

    xDx

Find out, but just don't tell her.
My mil is like that, she didn't want us to find out, but once she knew we knew, she had to know.

Just had a cup of tea and bubs is now awake and kicking the pap out of me :rotfl: Better get dressed in a minute :o

Debs, we found out as I felt I really needed to know for some reason, and I am glad I did. I found it helps me visualise how my life will be once he is here, and imagine myself playing cars or something with a boy, rather than dolls with a girl (slight generalisation, I know!). I was tempted to get a 3D scan, but OH is not keen, so we still have the surprise of what he will look like. I keep trying to imagine him :)

Even though we know we're having a boy, I have still chosen mostly unisex colours and haven't actually bought anything blue myself (apart from a dog toy in Mothercare). My mum has bought a load of blue 6-9 months sleep suits though. I dunno, yellows and creams etc appeal to me more than 'boy colours'. May be different if I were having a girl as there are so many pretty outfits you can buy.

Everyone is different, but I do not regret at all finding out. I am too impatient anyway :rotfl:

I have to know! I didn't think I would care that much but looking at clothes, bedding etc and it all seems to be gender specific. I was toying with the idea of not letting the rest of the family know the flavour but as soon as I start buying pink or blue things they are going to work it uot!

OH and I were talking about names last night - someone needs to buy that man some taste - he has none but gets offended when I keep brushing off his suggestions. I don't think we are ever going to agree!

Apricot we have had this conversation before about our OH's and names , lol BUT the one he has picked if we have a girl is nice . Very plain but I like it and he loves it and put alot of thought into it so it feels right. If its a boy I have a few options in my head and will wait a wee while after birth to see what suits him.
Digital -with regards to how baby looks , it says in my book that baby looks like your partner for the first 2 weeks. This is because a mum knows her own baby , smell and sense and doesnt need to see face to know her baby is hers but dads dont have that instinct , so baby looks like dad so dads brain can tell is his baby.Apparantly its all mother natures doing , lol

I know what you mean. But then I think about DH telling me the flavour at the birth and I get goosebumpy. :o

DH and I have agreed on a boys name - we both always knew that's what we'd have, girls is more tricky. Our favourite girls name would give the baby the initials A R S!! :rotfl:

    Morning all!

Debs for years I had always said I would never find out and used to joke with people who did that it was like knowing what you were getting for Christmas!

But when you are finally pregnant and this will probably be my only child I had to know! Not that I was doing a nursery or all pink or blue but I just wanted to know what I was buying for. Oh and we knew picking a boys name would be difficult, so thought we needed as long as possible to pick names!! So a boy it was...this may sound awful to some but glad we found out as I was secretly hoping for a girl and I would probably have broken down in tears in being told it was a boy at birth!! I can't wait now for him to come along xx

Hope RBG finally getting mummy cuddles, Jojo hope you're ok, also Duemarch.
:heart2:Baby boy madbird arrived 15/06/11 by emergency csection weighing 9lb 13oz:eek: love him so much xx:heart2:
