Quick! Someone tell me I don't need to buy that Tommee Tippee pump from asda today. I'm only 12 weeks and haven't bought anything yet but am suddenly overcome by the urge to buy this. It'll be available somewhere for that price again before September, right??
Im sure you'll be able to get it at a later date (although Im still reeling from not buying the bargain cot when I was 14 weeks as I thought it was too early!):happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Popped home for some lunch and to tickle dogs tummy. Thanks for all the info re-breastfeeding. Very interested in combination feeding but then if you miss a boob feed does your milk get messed up? Was thinking for the times that bubs wakens during the night that bottles would be handy (formula) but does that mean by morning time my boobs will have went dry? Sorry for all the questions, my midwifes and local area are all "breast is best" and its rammed down your throat from the minute you get 2 lines on pregnancy test
JoJo I may just steal your birth plan, sounds ideal , I will be adding on mine for OH to be the one to tell me babies flavour , although I would imagine someone will need to wisper it in his ear as my dad made a fatal mistake with the umbilical cord and told my mum she had had another little boy. Nurses werent paying attention and swaddled baby up and handed to my mum.....
I think that if you are going to have problems with milk supply, then mixed feeding may make that worse, because of reducing supply. Not everyone has trouble with milk supply, though.
And my XH was so thick, he was asked to tell sex of DD1 and couldn't...d'oh:eek:Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

Mini rant, can't get in with midwife for 34 week appointment. She had no space (or for the following week) at my last appointment, so when she told me to call the surgery the week before and they should be able to squeeze me in I didn't think it boded well. The only time they could offer me was 1pm on a day I'm working in London, oh sure I'll just pop back for a 15 minute appointment then....
Am meant to be calling her to see when she can fit me in but am not hugely inspired to, do I need a 34 week appt?? Is it likely I can see anyone else (doc or someone)?
Not sure I'm going to get any of my other appointments either now, if she's that booked up  be okay once I'm on maternity leave but that's not until I'm 38 weeks :eek:0 -
Hi All
For more info on breastfeeding, bottle feeding and co-sleeping, I can recommend "babycalming" by Caroline Deacon:
http://www.nctshop.co.uk/Babycalming-Caroline-Deacon/productinfo/2167/
It is really well written - and I didn't get on with many "helpful" books!
In it, she says when co-sleeping, if you are breastfeeding, you naturally sleep in a position that cocoons the baby, protecting it meaning you can easily breastfeed, but won't roll onto or squash the baby. If you bottlefeed, you don't get this natural shape.
no idea how true that is, but thought I'd throw it in!
With DS, we had him in his moses basket in a crib next to the bed, so I could haul him out to b/fduring the night - apricot is right, I couldn't be doing with getting up to feed and it was quite relaxing!Did this for about 6 months. (Used a moses basket stand, but having the crib meant I could rock him, which was fab, then moved him into the crib before he went into his cot next door, so he got used to being a bit more open)
When feeding, with DS lying down, we did sometimes fall asleep so I suppose I did a bit of inadvertant co-sleeping too! Your body temp regulates theirs so they don't get too hot/ cold - plus, I didn't ever have him under the duvet, just tucked in next to me - and he was fine.
Hope that helpsLittle Boy arrived 21st July 2008, 5lbs 3oz :jNew bump due 7th April 2011! :TArrived 6th April 2011 6lbs 1oz

Can you not see another midwife ? Or does it need to be the same one? We have 6 at my health centre and they told me if I booked appointments on the same day in the am then I would get the same midwife...... Ive had a different one every time
Thanks grateful, I think like everything else baby wise they are all different and I just need to wait untill little bundle is here.Ive totally suprised myself at my total 360 on b/f, I didnt think I would even contemplate it , its amazing how different you feel when youve got a little wriggler doing a highland jig inside you.Altho admittedly I do feel like this  when im up every hour during the nightThanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

How bizarre....I have exactly the same problem
i had my 34 wk appt today and she just listened to the heartbeat and we went through my birth plan. Nothing too major and nothing that couldn't wait.
Could I get in for my 36wk appt though....not a chance. She offered me 12pm which is a nightmare for me as it is right in the middle of the day.
So I've had to book in at a different centre for that week on the day that I have off.
So I booked on for my 38 week one while I was there, will be on mat leave then and the only space she had free was 9am - bl00dy typical!
anyway, long and short, 34wk isn't major but I guess no appts should be missed really just in case.....:)0 -
Congrats tickle!
Because i've been dying to do it, im about to write my birth plan for a natural birth. If anything changes at my next consultant appointment i get to write a new one0 -
