BBM I'm in Holland and bought them from here: http://www.kaatjekatoen.nl/html/deandereluier.html I linked this page so you can see the different brands this company do - I think they're really good and have consultants all over Holland who use the nappies themselves - so maybe you can look for the same brands in the UK.
Don't know how much they charge to send to the UK. But you could try here: http://www.bgnappies.com/ or here: http://www.thecottonnappycompany.co.uk/

The advantages of the bumGenius are the low wash temp and dry time (we don't have a tumble dryer) and also ease of use - they work pretty much like disposables, no origami etc.
The disadvantage I think is a quite expensive initial outlay - we were advised not to buy these ones secondhand as they can be ruined/worn out by not washing them properly (ie. more than 40 or with liquid instead of powder).

GB thanks for the advice! I also haven't experienced the constipation I was promised.... But hopefully it's all a sign that things are gearing up...

Could be the start of something! Some ladies do talk about "special poos" when the body prepares for labour by ahem emptying itself. Fingers crossed this is what is happening for you!

I was wondering about the "special poo"..... but I don't know quite how many you're supposed to have...
  • Hi Spaghetti

  • Well I went home and had a bath and then watched tv in bed, was big time down in the dumps and OH didnt help the situation , as soon as I got in he left to go play football(he hasnt played in over 6 years but has decided to start now) He was supposed to help me with some ironing last night , so had to drag it out myself and caught my wrist in cupboard door. So was less than impressed when he got back at half ten last night , saying he has signed up for local team. He's just started his own business working all hours , has our dog to walk because I cant walk her very far at the minute and we have a baby on the way and he thought now would be a good time to join a football team  RANT OVER . With regards to ebay prices (forgot who mentioned it):o some stuff is way over the top , the high chair you can buy in ikea for about £15 was up at £25 with £17 p+P and had 11 bidders ?!?!? On the flip side we will be able to sell on babies stuff at a later date and not loose out too much :money:
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

We went to ante natal class about "infant feeding" I knew what was coming but felt a bit cross for the others who might not have been intending b'feeding as that is what is was all about. MW said she wouldn't be discussing formula feeding. It was fine enough seen a couple of videos (yes videos not DVD's LOL) one being about a how a baby finds the breast all by itself after birth. The poor lady was lying there for over an hour waiting for the baby to start feeding, not sure if I would have the patience for that tbh.

DH was top of the class, she was asking about the benefits of b/feeding and the usual ones were named (anti bodies, cost, convenience etc) then he started coming out with can prevent eczema, can prevent orthodentic problems, there were other really random ones he kept coming out with and I was like how the hell do you know all that (thinking he had been doing some late night reading), "oh while we were waiting for consultants appt yesterday there was a poster about b/feeding right in front of me and I was reading that and remembered we had a class tonight"!!! :rotfl:

Not sure hun, I had quite bad sickness and diawoowoo at the start of labour but I'm sure some ladies don't get it at all. You were due yesterday weren't you? Have you got a ball you can bounce on, or are you able to get our for a walk?

I can't remember attending any antenatal classes in my last pregnancy with DD - think I attended a couple when I was pg with DS though but can't really remember much about them.
Perhaps I'll attend some again this time round - re the feeding though - I don't recall much being said either way but I do remmeber seeing a very similar video about the baby finding it's way to the breast all by itself ;)
I can't think of too much advice to give to mums planning on formula feeding tbh other than the obvious making up and sterilising of the bottles
  • MSE appears to be working on my work computer now so I can actually click the thanks button , so will be pressing it alot as Ive not been able to do it the last few days. I bought the bargain wipes from boots , they will be ready to pick up on Monday (hopefully with the free changing bag) I was going to buy a skip hop one that I seen but decided the money could be better spent.I hate being so level headed , lol
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

She said that because about 90% of people still don't know how to serlilise bottles properly they advise you get a one to one on how to do it. I just don't think the letter should have been entitled "infant feeding" it should have been "breast feeding ante natal". If I was planning on f/feeding and nothing could convince me otherwise I would have been annoyed tbh!
