Wow, not many posts since I was on last. Thanks for the advice RBG I could barely walk to the loo last night (lucky I wasn't desperate or I would have wet myself:rotfl:)
Whatever it is I want it gone! Im only blooming 23 surely my body should be able to handle a little extra weight!

Have my triple test this pm - keeping fingers crossed for a good result (was pleased that I get out of work early but my boss wants me to come back afterwards  )

Am very hungry this morning and considering making a start on the custard creams :D

Apricot - you are so young! - I am jealous! :D
I'm not sure it's to do with extra weight - think it's growing uterus pressing on things - or something!? - one of the ladies on here will know more about it.

Good luck for this afternoon and step away from those biscuits young lady! lol!;)
  • Hugs C&C....it's always when it happens to others it makes you really grateful for what you have....give your hubby a big hug and tell him you love him

Gbaby have fun this weekend :) and keep an eye on the pain as that's how mine started. If you can get an early appt with a physio just to get some exercises to stop it getting any worse I would do so as I kept putting it off and my pain is now so bad I can't actually move around as much as I want (hopefully I am only having a flare and it will settle later lol)

Hugs to Tickle although I won't hug to tight just in case :P

Ok going to get ready to go to the Drs......see you all in a bit

labour vibes to all in need and hugs to everyone xxxxx

I plan to have fun and relax as much as poss - I have my anomaly scan next wed and I'm getting more and more anxious - was never like this before - must get a grip!
Re the pain - expecting it to get worse, it has done in the past but I've never been crippled by it like some of you poor guys - hopefully it will be the same this time or I will get help x
  • congrats SJP

Good luck with your scan today Madbird and your test Apricot (sorry to hear about your pains :()

We had our second Parentcraft class last night. MW put model of a baby through a model of a pelvis, talked about how it works, what happens if baby turns etc. Then at the end pulled the baby through and said 'there you go, you are now a mummy'. Cue my bursting into tears and OH looking at me like I was a mad thing :o:rotfl:.

Anyway, the class has left me with a few questions............can anyone help?
    • If I give birth in water, how do I deliver the placenta, what are the different options?
    • The MW said you can have a half dose of pethadine in a water birth, first I'd heard of this, anyone any experience?
    • Anyone heard of metpid, apprently can be used in a water birth, frantic googling and there's many pros and cons - anyone any experience? Is it widely available?
  • Tickle - Could it be the start of your "Special Poos"??? Hope your not queue jumping :)

I doubt it, my body doesnt seem to be kitted out for it lol. DD was big and breech like this one and I didnt even get a twinge, even though my c section was at 39+5 :o
I'm feeling really down today - my husband's friend's husband died yesterday of a massive heart attack. He was only 39. I just can't stop thinking about him, and his wife and daughter are such lovely people. My husband woke me up snoring in the early hours, and all I could think was 'I bet she would give anything to have him there now snoring away'. I just can't believe it. Only 39.

It is a horrible thing to happen. OH had 2 strokes last year at 37, which scared the bejeebies out of both of us, especially as he is the sort to run 8 miles twice a week and go on a 50 mile bike ride once a week. It was part of the reason we decided to get married so quickly. Carpe diem! It has also made me appreciate the time we spend together so much more. (although if he snores I just end up on the sofa bed)
    DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz
    DD1 arrived 20/05/09 10lb3oz

:rotfl:I told OH we may need to get a hoist to get me out of bed!
Its down to where the baby is lying a lot of the time too xxxx
As for your boss phone him later and tell him there has been a delay and you don't know if you will get back lol

:D I like your thinking! I always finish about 3.30 on a Friday, my appointment is half past one so Im not going to get back til at least 2.30 anyway - seems like a waste of time to park in car park for an hour!

    Congrats SJP!!!!!beautiful name:T

I had a water birth got out to deliver the placenta, Cant remember if you can do it in the pool - it can take a while though so you might not want to after birthing baby youll prob just want to get out for cuddles. I got out the took placenta out whilst placing baby on breast so I wasnt paying much attention to it tbh - I did look at it after they took it out though and it is disgusting lol

Pethadine - they have started using this from what ive heard of peth it makes you feel a bit drowsy and not with it..... not sure if that would be a good feeling in the birth pool imho. Gas and Air and the pool itself keep you fairly relaxed....also I had to get out of my birth pool a couple of times as mw said i was too relaxed..(yeh right!!) that could be difficult of youve had pethadine? Ive not had pethadine so Im not overly sure though thats just my opinons! :)

    No idea about Metpid. Sorry

  • Thanks Annibee, i've heard they set up a little area next to the pool for you to get out and deliver teh placenta, saves walking across the room to a bed so I think I'll do this. I most definitely do not want to see it :)

  • Morning ladies!

Hope your all ok, congrats to SJP :j! (Beautiful name) and any others (loving all the babies coming, however am now on the 1st page..slightly scary!)

Did I see that I've now got a twinny? (Waves at Titch D!)

There was talk of 'daddy to be' boxes a few weeks ago but I can't find it now, can anyone remember what the contents were? (I can remember matching t-shirt and baby-gro's but thats it!)

Ooh for anyone stocking up on wipes...this seems a very good deal!

32weeks yesterday, 4 weeks today til I finish work, can't wait!

Dusty, the midwife that ran my antenatal class said that some midwifes are ok with Pethidine during a water birth, but apparently its more unusual? Personally I don't know if I like the idea of feeling pished while being in water lol.

    Welcome to any newbies xxx

  • Wow - it is quiet in here today

So much for me not doing a birth plan - this is more of a 'what I would like guide' :). Using the previous one posted by Ema as my base - what do you guys think?

    Ideal Birth Scenario
Active labour – I want to move around / try positions that help me cope with labour.
    Labour in pool, Water birth

Pain relief – TENS, - Gas & Air

Birth partners – my partner and mum

I would like the lights dimmed and a quietened environment

I am happy for 1 student to observe only and only if they are able to maintain the calm environment.

If I feel the need for further pain relief I would like my options explained and the pros and cons of each pointed out to me. I would consider a dose of meptid or a half dose of pethadine if I feel the need.

I will need lots of encouragement and praise for how well I am doing (even if I’m not J)

If I need instructions (eg when to push) please could just one person give them.

Please keep me informed about what you are doing (any procedures etc).

Please do not tell me something is going to really hurt, I definitely do not want to be expecting something to really hurt!

I would like to bring the baby upto the surface and see the sex for myself and have immediate skin to skin contact.

I would like to then assess how best to deliver the placenta. I think I would like to get out of the pool and have the injection to deliver the placenta but I’m open to alternatives on this. I will cuddle/hold baby until the placenta is delivered. I most definitely do not want to see the placenta.

Please ask my partner if he would like to cut the cord after it has stopped pulsating, he will decide at the time how he feels. If he doesn’t want to do it please ask my mum if she would like to do it.

After the birth and once baby is cleaned up, measured, weighed and settled I would like everyone (including my mum – you may have to drag her away J) to leave me and my partner alone for an hour with our new baby.

I intend to breastfeed, I may need lots of help with this.

If I am not able to have a water birth
I do not want to labour / give birth on my back or sitting up in bed. Please encourage me to lie on my side if I am unable to be more upright.

    I do not want forceps

I do not want an episiotomy unless I am consulted and it is the best option.

I would like my partner to tell me the sex of the baby

I want the injection for the placenta.
