That depends on the person.

look at details on the left
if you have other problems like needing injections or trouble going the loo
then you could get middle rate careIn London, you're never more than 20 feet away from someone telling you you're never more than 20 feet from a rat .0 -
i'm 6/18.
what is so annoying is that this test, done in perfect conditions, is the be all and end all.
they make a big thing of saying ' it isnt the condition, it's the care and mobility needs that count'
this is clearly untrue.
i can read the 3 lines in big bold black lettering, on a lit background, in a dark room. they have to turn the lights out, as with the glare, i can't read any of it.
i think that for the mobility compnant, tests should be done unlit, in natural daylight. but that's just my opinion lol0 -

This is a new criteria for HRM and not the normal rules but added to the exceptions such as the deaf blind criteria and serious behavioural with development delay criteria so it cant be looked at in the same way as the normal DLA criteria.
We all have opinions on how and where the goal posts should be but the wrong people to decide this are the people who would gain from the move.0 -

But the people who would gain from this, know a lot more about how they are affected. People without these conditions don't have the faintest idea how we're affected.i think that for the mobility compnant, tests should be done unlit, in natural daylight.
I would fail then - can't deal with natural daylight and have to wear sunglasses and a cap in winter.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

i agree sunnyone......to a degree......
but the people that decide, sit in an office and pull data out of a hat. they have no concept at all of what it's like to live day to day with significant sight loss.
i am inable to go out alone at all. i need 'perfect' lighting conditions to use any sight i have.
if its sunny i can't see at all.....if it's 'dark' ( and i dont mean dark as most people accept it..........i mean 'dim') i can't see at all.
try viewinf life through a toilet roll inner..........
i go to the supermarket, and i cant see what i'm choosing as the glare from the artificial lighting stuns my sight.
i'm not even really complaining that im not eligable.
it's just the fact that such a big thing has been made of 'blind people' now being eligable.
and for the vast amount of people that would really benefit.......hrm isnt an option for them!0 -

People dont know the slightest thing about ANY disability if they dont have it but its the goverment that make the goal posts and not disabled people.0 -

Totally agree and can't see it changing any time soon. They seem to think it's fair, most of us know it isn't but where really are any of our rights? The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0 -

A lot of the way the new access to higher rate mobility for blind people was worked out was done by the RNIBIn London, you're never more than 20 feet away from someone telling you you're never more than 20 feet from a rat .0
