  • the way they have brought in the new rules means very few people will benefit most blind people to start with are over 65 and many of people with very bad eye sight can still see the top line

using the stats on RNIB web site and the ONS stats I bet less than 10,000 will get in on paper alone from what you have posted IMO you could apply and if turned down I think you would get it on appeal of course with the sight you have posted you would not risk your lower mobility as you would need help outside, but the problem comes if your on middle rate care when looking at your claim agaim the midddle rate is at risk ... you would again have no problem getting the lower rate care as you could not pass the meal test

and last oo all even if you got higher mobility middle care, its going to be looked at again in 2014 ish when PIP comes

He's only on LRC but he's going to a Tribunal with his Action for Blind People Representitive some time between now and May to try and get MRC.

What order are they being contacted in? I'm a H and was contacted Monday.

Not sure but I say it goes A,B,C etc as I'm B and was sent a form in early Dec
The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.

I read of a blog of someone who's surname began with A and he was contacted late Nov so I guess that would make sense.

Ok that's why you haven't heard. They are only contacting people who get LRM at the moment who has a claim for sight, anyone else can apply as from April.

You can call up once it comes into play in April and apply, I'd ask for a pack in March if I were you to get it in early :)

  • Hi,

I suffer from nystagmus and can read the first 3 lines of an opticians chart, I think that makes me 3/60.

I take it from this I am not entitled. I get dla low mobility and care needs.

They have written to me twice, first letter saying that if I think I don't qualify I don't need to apply, and second a few weeks ago saying that they would appreciate it if I let them know if I intended to apply but if they don't hear from me by 15 feb then they will take it I am not applying.

Just wondering should I let them know I don't qualify or just let it pass the 15 feb deadline date for me?

    Justin
