Yes because there are threads about this place every month or so, on here and on pepipoo. But you are right to generally urge caution because in some cases APCOA do act for Councils (but we know for sure, that is not the case here). We know 100% that this one is a fake PCN that can either be ignored - or appealed properly, strongly and with forum advice, to get POPLA to direct it to be cancelled.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

As you exit the main roundabout towards the tunnel there are prominent signs declaring that the road is a private road , so yes the "approach road " is private . Private = PPC invoice not a genuine PCN, end of.
I've had six and have not parted with a single penny with no consequence whatsoever, APCOA KNOW exactly what they are doing but their van marked "CCTV Enforcement" with "conincidental" blue and yellow stripes (same as local Police) still fools enough people into paying.
Were any of those six for stopping on the road you mention, which runs just the other side of the fence from the aircraft? The reason I ask is because that is a security sensitive area, and could be a police issue.0 -

But it isn't, and no, they weren't. A private company issues the fake tickets in that road.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

On that stretch of road it is a security issue if vehicles stop. And with airport security the company could be acting on behalf of BTP.0 -

If it is such a security issue then why have the road there to begin with ? This is a money making scam nothing more, the company is acting in its own self interest as they are scammers and they do it everywhere they infest. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

In that case the sinage would need to be legal/TSRGD compliant and if you have a look on Streetview, not one of the security notices/restriction signs concerning parking/stopping around the terminal area are legit.
And as mentioned above, as soon as you leave the Public roundabout for the terminal access road, there is a quasi-legal looking sign that makes it quite clear that its a private road from that point-on. Again, clearly legible on Streetview - It also references an "Enforcement Charge", not a legal penalty.
So yes Its a scam and the police are not involved at this level of operation.0 -

I don't know if you know Luton airport. But due to expansion over the years, this road now goes under the apron, and comes up in the middle of the airport. So it isn't really possible to get to the middle of the airport without getting close to it.
It is a security issue if vehicles stop on this stretch of road. They also no longer let private cars anywhere near the terminal building.
There should be no reason to stop on the access road, as there is a drop off/pick up area.0 -

As I said before, I am playing devils advocate.
Things are different where airports are involved. After all BTP operate on the airport which is private property. And they will deal with potential security issues. So if someone parks in a security sensitive area they would very soon find BTP coming to see them.
So before advice is given to ignore any fines, or whatever they are, it is essential that we know exactly how things operate at airports.
Also one thing to bear in mind is that if campaigners keep telling people that they can park in security sensitive areas at airports, because they can't do anything about it, then believe me, things will change. After all they don't like the fact that a terrorist could park a car bomb 30ft from aircraft.0 -
It would help if you checked your basic facts then!
Nobody here is telling anyone to park in any "sensitive" area - In fact we always advise full compliance with all reasonable directions/charges/landowners conditions.
Its the illegal and unenforcable penalites and the deliberate misdirection/harrassment of the PPCs and their ilk that have the strongest objection. Security and rip-off parking enforcement are two different things altogether.
And it is also very pertinent to note that not one person who has posted here about this airport or in the many other Luton threads over the years has ever suffered any sanction beyond threatening contract-based letters demanding money - Which says it all I think?0 -

There is no bylaw covering this, it's a scam with all money going to a money making scam company. They don't give a toss about security all they are interested is the money they make by the infestation of the airport. The airport is only interested in their cut of the money they get. This purely and only a money making scam. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
