Its not really about saving a few £ its more about going somewhere with the best weather this time of year & not a million miles away. The people that have just come back have said no isues at all so why wouldnt i want to go

I thought you were asking for opinions on whether others would go? I wouldn't.

What about Cape Verde? We have booked for there next Jan. As hot as Sharm I think, and only a bit longer flight. Some good deals too!

I've been to Egypt a few times, spent last Christmas in Sharm and would gladly go back there tomorrow.

Sharm El Sheikh and the troubled areas of Egypt are 8hrs drive and simply worlds apart. Cairo is dodgy and dirty at the best of times whilst Sharm is a custom-made holiday resort and....well not quite as dirty anyway!

The locals in Sharm will be too busy trying to fleece the tourists to be bothered about political change.

People worry far too much. There are shootings sometimes on a weekly basis in the area where I work, but I still end up travelling there everyday, and it doesn't even have a beach.

We are going on the 22nd with 3 kids and last week I had thought there was no way we would be going. However if it stays stable (ish) until then we will go. Even at the worst of the violence in cairo there was nothing at all in sharm. I also would not be choosing to book there at present. We did have the choice of our money back but nowhere else would give us 5* AI for what we paid.

How the hell did you have the chance of your money back? We were told to go and do one.
Set your goals high, and don't stop till you get there.

Sorry I meant a voucher from easyjet and the option to cancel hotel for £35 with hotels 4u. I would use both again due to their good customer service on this occasion.
  • just got back & im very glad i decided to go.i dont think we could of timed it better if we tried.
firstly no sign of trouble what so ever (i know its calmed down now anyway).the airport which is usually a nightmare was pretty chilled, allmost dead.
theres no russains/germans so there fore no pushing in at meal times & plenty of sun loungers by the pools.no ques for drinks.
the hotel was only about 25% full (there was more flys than people) & was bussiness as usuall.i have to say i have to admire the workers for all there efforts/smiling faces knowingly that they could be out of a job next week due to lack of people to scared to go to due to all the stuff they see on tv & over reacting to whats going on.
great holiday & no better time to go
