Where do people think the food and water in the Red sea resorts comes from? Here's a clue - Cairo !

It's got an airport, so can get whatever they need from elsewhere.
If Sharm was called The Republic of Southern Sinai then we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  • we were having the same issue as this we have decided that we arent going to risk it...

hope you find a good holiday tho

I would go to sharm tomaoorow - no problems.

Would anyone go to turkey? yes, but then just think - Turkey has borders with Iraq & syria, but no one worries about that.

Would people go to Sri Lanka? Yes, loads do, even though the tamil Tigers cause problems.

Do people go to spain? yes, they do, even though ETA are a terrorist organisation and have been for years.

Do people go to Ireland? Yes they do, and did so even when the IRA operated, and the so called 'provisional IRA' operate now.

And Photome, if i went to sharm and things kicked off, i wouldn't expect the taxpayer to re-patriate me. In fact, that would be the responsibility of the tour operator that i travelled with, should the FCO advise that it was unsafe to go there.

However, if i went under my own steam, or under a 'non packaged' arrangement, i agree i would be on my own, therefore i would avoid doing it that way at all costs.

Sharm is quiet at the moment, but it is still in a country that is in political crisis. There have been attacks on tourists there in the past and could easily be again. If I had not booked yet I would look at the Canaries or Madeira rather than going to North Africa or the Middle East at present.
  • I'm going on the 13th.

Got friends out there atm and no problems.

Try Pompey Guildhall Walk on a Friday or Saturday night.
Wasn't long ago that Nottingham was only a bit safer than Baghdad.
    Go with FCO travel advice.

Even Egytians are leaving Egypt as fast as they can. Does that not tell people something?
