If you do go,( and there are some very cheap deals at the mo) would you expect the taxpayer to pick up the cost of evacuation if it did kick off0

Would I go If I'd already booked? Yes.
Would I book now? No.
It just isn't worth it for the sake of a cheap hioliday. There's a whole world out there that isn't experiencing problems, most of which can be done at a good price if you're willing to do your homework, why deliberately book a country the home office are evacuating people from, regardless of which part of the country it is.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
no , i wouldn't go. Hardly a relaxing holiday when all thats going on in the country!? Plenty of other places to go.0

cario is 8hrs away so cant see how it effects sharm but i dont know much about it i must admitt, they are still taking bookings so i guess it must be ok.there are other places but not as hot with in the same distance0

We were due to go on the 21st Jan and would still be there now. Had to change holiday due to ill health and the riots combined with the sharks means I am glad we cancelled.
We have been 6 times and love it there normally, lovely people and very reliable weather.

The way things are at the minute I probably would go as the trouble is so far away.0

I would not go. If you follow the news and understand the basic politics in Egypt, you would realise that this is an un-predictable situation and it changes every day. Sharm is in sinai which is a long drive from Cairo, but take into account that the security forces are strained across the whole country and I'm not sure how much I would rely on them for protection.
If you do go, stay safe and do lots of scuba-diving
