Maybe they had more confidence in her work and chose who they considered the strongest candidate to hold the fort? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

This happens at my daughters place of work whenever an 'event' comes up , someone has to stay so as long as its done fairly and this seems to just be luck of the drawer then she has to suck it up I'm afraid as unfair as that seems to her.. My daughter actually doesn't mind when she gets picked but some of the others kick up a fuss to no avail.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Same thing happened to me years ago. We were given a huge party based on the fact that we got the highest mystery shopper results in the company across the year. 3 time my department got 100% and all 3 times I was working the shift. I was promised that I could go and that they would arrange cover from another location. I ended up having to work the closing shift and missed the whole thing. I quit, one of the best decisions I've ever made.0

My OH works shifts so his company had two events to enable everyone to make one of them even working shifts etc.. I would have thought you would at least get the time back that they are benefiting from.0

In this day and age, people should expect to be treated fairly, or do you disagree? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

What a dumb divisive thing for a company to do!
Mind you, I would be cockahoop that I wasn't going as I loathe work outings.0
