Denied going to company event - same as withholding bonus?

I would imagine that it is because while their employees are being treated, there will be some who are not. I guess that OP feels it is unfair, that those who will have to work that day, will not be given any consideration. Just a guess though. Why is she taking it so personally when those requiring to keep the company ticking over were selected at random and it's clear that the company would have wanted to have treated everyone but can't because of operational requirements? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
What they should have done in order to be fair was draw lots openly, then those who were left out would be given a voucher for a spa treatment at local salon. That would have been the right thing to do, but they have no obligation.0

Kick up a stink, this will lead to the event being cancelled, all the other staff hating your wife, forcing her out the job. Then she will not "suffer" from missing an event again.0

Yeah, because that's what will really happen. :wall:Kick up a stink, this will lead to the event being cancelled, all the other staff hating your wife, forcing her out the job. You never know, she may well get recompense at a later date.0

In which case that needs to discussed and explained to her. As it has been left at the moment it is creating bad feeling is not going to help with cross team co-operation in the future. Which kind of negates the object of the exercise in the first place.Gordon_Hose wrote: »You never know, she may well get recompense at a later date. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Seriously. Lots were drawn, she lost out.0 -
Hi,
I remember reading posts just before Christmas about folks wondering how they could 'escape' the staff Christmas function, some of them would've been glad to have lost out in random draw, instead of making up excuses.0 -
Maybe they had more confidence in her work and chose who they considered the strongest candidate to hold the fort?0

And she doesn't have the right to feel a bit pee'd off?Gordon_Hose wrote: »lol, smacks of spoilt brat jumping up and down in the supermarket cos she got no sweets.
