    Hello MG :)

Just popped in to say hope you are feeling better.. Also wanted to leave you an early 'welcome to half term holidays :j' message... as I won't be around tomorrow evening to do that.

Have you got anything nice planned for the break?

    BW x
  • Aww thanks BW, i've been feeling much better the past couple of days, just in time for half term. :) Not got much planned except a trip to the dentist and someone coming round to measure up for bedroom curtains (ooh and a valentines meal) but i'm happy to have a chilled week pottering and getting ahead with coursework.

    Have a lovely Friday,

  • Happy Valentines day! :heartpuls:happyhear:heartpuls Hope you're all having a lovely chilled day. We decided to 'celebrate' a day early and with homemade mushroom curry followed by lush lemon meringue, we even had candles, and then vegged out in front of the tv in our pjs - perfect! :)

It's been a busy start to the half term hols. I 'deep cleaned' the bathroom yesterday, which consisted of the usual bathroom cleaning but also scrubbing the grout, de-gunking the rubber seal on the shower glass (yuk!), decluttering the cupboard and I even soaked the shower head in white vinegar to descale it. Combined with the other usual weekend jobs - washing, hoovering etc, it took up the whole day. Today has been a bit more relaxed, we went to see my Nanna (and took the leftover meringue which was very gratefully received) and had a generally lazy morning, then I did some coursework and cleaned the bedroom windows.

I've added £2.00 to the op pot from some supermarket vouchers that I've used. I also received a free casino offer and made £10 profit so I'll be adding that to the pot once it hits my account. :) I've been doing a bit of spreadsheet fiddling and with a bit of luck I should be mortgage neutral by the end of next year which is quite exciting - and motivating too! So I just need to keep focused for a little while longer. That will then give me 4 years of 'normal' payments to build my savings pot further in preparation for losing access to the overpayment money that I can currently 'reclaim' from my mortgage. So that's the current plan, hopefully I'll be able to stick to it if life doesn't throw me too many curveballs. :rotfl:

I think I'm going to celebrate that mini achievement by getting my pjs on and curling up on the sofa with a blanket and a good book - life's simple pleasures eh. ;)

  • Just stopping by with a quick earnings update. My casino profit hit my account, so that's £10 to split between the op pot and living room fund, I've also redeemed £20.33 from pr0lific, I requested it today and it arrived in my account a few hours later - super speedy, I'm very impressed. :) I also listed some things on fb and sold one of them for £5.00, the buyer turned up almost straight away. So it's been quite a profitable day.

I've also done some coursework, been to the dentist (and spent the best part of £19 for a 2 minute check up - not complaining though as it's better than needing loads of work done ;)) and got rid of quite a few bits and pieces out of the spare room. I do like to have productive holidays so I'm really happy with my efforts. Now it's time for a chilled evening and some well-deserved 'me' time.

Sounds like you have had a great start to the holidays MG :)
  • Wow I can't believe that the holidays are nearly over. Time flies! I've had a fairly productive holiday and got lots of coursework and some schoolwork done. I've also done a few jobs around the house and tried to buy some curtains for the bedroom (it didn't happen due to the two main fabrics I chose having being discontinued and then being quoted almost £750 for third fabric which was ok but I'd have just been settling for it as there were no other options ). So I've got someone else coming round with some fabrics in a couple of weeks. I've had the builder out to check the hairline crack in the bay window and thankfully it's fine, but I've arranged for him to come back and do some other bits that I need doing.

I also went out for lunch with a few different groups of friends on a couple of days which was really lovely. Money-wise I've received a £10 Am@zon voucher from sb and have £20 worth of vouchers coming from cp. I've also made just over £36 on a mb so I'm waiting for that to hit my account.

I've had a quiet couple of days over the weekend as I've felt a bit low and pretty exhausted. I think being ill a couple of weeks ago has really taken it out of me. I did virtually nothing but sit and read yesterday and felt better for it today but have still been taking it easy today. I think I really need to work on this work-life balance thing as I don't seem to have got it quite right just yet but I will keep trying. It's hard when it feels like there's an endless to-do list.

Anyway, I'm off to read some more of my book, it's got me hooked and I cant seem to put it down. :)

    Have a good evening.

Glad you have managedd a productive week. Its sometimes difficult to strike the balance when you get free time from work but it sounds like you have managed it. I always think its a shame that a week off is needed to do the things you miss out on inbetween (such as visiting, getting outstanding diy jibs done etc).

This is a fairly short half term now though isn't it?

Well done on all you managed to do over half term. I managed to do about half the things on my list and hope to do the rest in the Easter break. Not long now but lots of coursework and marking to do.
