  • Happy weekend BW. All is good here thanks. I've made a small op this week and added some money to the living room fund. I've managed to redeem £30 worth of vouchers and won a small mb making a profit of just over £13.

I'll update properly a bit later, got up a bit late this morning and need to tackle the to-do list.

    Happy Sunday everyone!

  • Well this week just seems to have flown and I can't believe that it's already Sunday night again. Work has been busy but aided by my trusty to-do list, I've managed to create some sort of order out of the chaos.

My fb listings haven't been very successful, I think people are still recovering from Xmas. Hopefully things might pick up a bit after payday. I did find that I could get the equivalent price on Music M@gpie for one of the dvd box sets I was selling so I've posted it off to them instead. My car insurance cashback has also finally come through as pending so hopefully that will be credited soon and I'll be £40 richer.

I've been trying to stick to my New Years resolution of making sure I have some 'me' time, most of it has been taken up by watching Prison Break and reading but I did go out for tea with my partner earlier in the week too - and we had pudding, nom, nom, nom! :D My current read is 'The Millionaire Next Door', it's fascinating and certainly thought provoking. It points out that quite a lot of millionaires are actually frugal and not the spendthrifts that the media would have us believe that they are. It makes sense really.

I'm still busy tracking my activity with my fitbit. It seems that generally I get up to 10,000 steps 3 or 4 times a week. My target is to hit my 10,000 step goal 5 times a week. It'll be much easier when I start running again but I'm happy with my morning cycling sessions and yoga at the moment. I'm also finding the sleep tracking function really interesting and it is helping me to make more of an effort to get 8 hours of sleep a night. So far it's seeming like a good investment.

Ooh and I almost forgot to mention my bargain (in 'real life' people would probably think I was mad for getting excited about such things) I got decaf teabags for 49p a box. They usually cost me £1.00 for the same brand so I'm excited about my find. :T It's the small things that make up life's simple pleasures isn't it. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: And in other news one of my chooks has started laying again - I've missed their yummy eggs. Shop bought ones just aren't the same.

    Have a good evening.

  • Evening all. Once again time seems to have flown and it certainly has been a busy week. Aside from work I've managed to arrange for someone to come and measure up/make some curtains for the bedroom window (it's only taken 9 years! :rotfl:) I do have blinds up though but I've decided that it's finally time to black out those bright and far too early summer mornings. I've also had someone to come and look at the boiler, which hopefully will be fixed over the next few weeks - not a major problem thankfully, it's just not heating water properly. So I'm feeling all productive and virtuous. ;):A

My payment from music m@gpie has arrived so that's been split between my op and living room fund and I've started another mb so hopefully that should bring in a few extra pennies. I've been shopping today and have topped up on discount toiletries. I bought a t-shirt in the sale with a voucher and bought a couple of pairs of jeans for the grand total of £26 - bargain - well it is considering that I hate shopping for trousers/jeans as I struggle find a pair that fits properly. :)

The chooks have laid a few more eggs this week so hopefully they're on their way to being productive again. And I've batch cooked a stash of beetroot burgers and managed to get a yellow stickered bag of salad for just 6p to accompany them - nom, nom, nom.

I think that's about it for my week - time for a good sleep and then to bring on the next week of chaos.

  • What a week it's been. I've been battling the lurgy since Monday. Finally gave in yesterday after feeling increasingly rubbish, got home and put my pjs on and curled up on the sofa with a blanket. I managed to get a good nights sleep last night without any coughing fits and I do feel slightly better but I suspect today will be another blanket day. :o

The man came round to fix the boiler during the week and the water does seem hotter so hopefully it's sorted now. If I can keep the boiler ticking over until I get the kitchen work done in a couple of years time then I'll be happy. It's a cheap one that already installed when I bought the house but it has worked well in the (almost) 10 years that I've lived here so I can't complain.

I made an op of just over £650 earlier this week (the joys of payday) and I'll continue to chuck a bit more at it as the month goes on. I'm also starting to increase my S&S ISA subscription with some of my mb winnings. The cashback for my car insurance has finally cleared (i bought my car ins in October!) so once that hits my account it'll be split between the op pot and my living room fund. I've also claimed £10 worth of Am@zon vouchers from sw@gbucks which I'll share between the pots.

I think that's all my news for this week, work has been its usual hectic self, ooh and I passed my essay - 2 marks off a first. No time to celebrate though as we're already thinking about the next one. :(

  • Aww thank you for stopping by kittenkirst, cath, BW and cookie i'm really feeling loved. :happyhear Yesterday was a sofa day, spent drinking lemonade (I never drink the stuff but had cravings) and hiding out under the blanket. I did have some mini bursts of energy during which I did a couple of loads of washing, some course reading, a mb and worked on a valentines project but that was about it and I do feel better for it today - still got those lemonade cravings too!

I don't plan to do much today either, maybe a bit more course reading and I might get the hoover out if I feel like it but that's about it. I need to preserve my energy and focus on getting well so that I can enjoy the half term holidays that begin at 3.20 on Friday! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Morning MG :)

Good to hear you are feeling a little brighter. Hope you get fully fit in time for half term

It's funny what you crave when feeling under the weather. For me it's always Lucozade...I think it's because my Mum gave me it when I was younger...so now if I crave it...I'm like ut oh :rotfl:

    Have a lovely day
