Just found something to make me :rotfl:on the "no toiletries thread"

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=41991558&postcount=1065

A lovely person from that thread sent me a Celia Britwell lunch bag from Boots which arrived today because I loved hers and they aren't on sale here. It's such a fun and friendly thread.

I had to turn off the news, I can't look at some of the pictures from Japan, don't think I've ever had to do that before.

Rather annoyed about something minor that happened today. The car park here was overflowing last night when I got back from my mothers so I couldn't park outside my house. I parked by the footpath on one of the internal roads in the estate. Bit awkward to explain but anyway I've done this before and other people do it all the time too.

This morning there was a printed A4 page under my wiper saying "NO PARKING HERE PLEASE. YOUR VEHICLE IS OBSTRUCTING THE ENTRANCE TO THE SQUARE AND YOUR NEIGHBOURS GARDEN (No 80) HAS BEEN DAMAGED. THE GARDAI (POLICE) HAVE BEEN INFORMED"

    Where to start!
    • I didn't damge the garden, neither did any other car owner. It was damaged by a large rubbish truck a few weeks ago and has since been repaired.
    • My car wasn't obstructing anything, that's why people feel ok about parking there, it just makes the very wide road a bit narrower
    • No 80 isn't even my neighbour I live at 40 something
    • I don't believe they informed the police, it's a private estate not a public road, the police can't do anything about it and wouldn't care anyway
Now I'm pretty certain they've printed out lots of these and are putting them on any car parked there so it's not personally aimed at me but do they have any right to do that? I think it's the tone of it that's bothering me. It's a bit vigilante.

I'm lucky to live in a lovely area but it's rather unfriendly round here. A lot of the houses are rented to Polish people which is probably why they included the translation for Gardai (Gardai is the Irish word for police). There are a few middle aged home owners here who look down on people in rented houses and think they can frighten them with threats about police. But I own a house here too and I don't see why anybody can appoint themselves to be a traffic warden.

I really want to ask the people at No 80 if they'd prefer people to double park in front of their cars so that they couldn't move them at all or where they would park themselves if they came home to find other cars parked outside their houses

    Rant over! Am I over-reacting?

Not over-reacting at all. I would be the same. We have huge parking issues in my road too.

I think they'd have to prove you damaged the property. Is there anyone else there that would agree with you that the rubbish truck did the damage? It annoys me when people pull a fast one like this.

I take it you haven't heard from the police yet?

    Thanks hun :A

Thankfully they know that the rubbish truck damaged the garden and are most likely pursuing them for the cost of the damage. I know this because they put a flyer through all the letterboxes on the day it was being repaired to tell everyone to avoid parking nearby.

But you are right, it does read as if they were accusing me of the damaging the garden even thought they know who did it. They are just trying to stop people from parking anywhere near their house which just doesn't work in a housing estate. I'll look out for more notes on other cars but the car park hasn't been very full since. The wording of that note was VERY rude and inappropiate, plus all the capital letters . I wouldn't have minded a polite note.

Not much else to report. I renewed the house insurance, paid for my rubbish collection and filed away the bills. Boring stuff that ensures I'm poor all the time!

Last night I went to see Michael Flatleys' Lord of the Dance in 3D at the cinema. I loved it, I love big shows like that but I'm not sure other people do. There were only 9 people there :rotfl:

Busy obsessing about what to buy at Boots on 3 for 2 so that I can use my extra points coupons and No7 vouchers and get the best value possible ;)

Even surveys have been slow this week.

I think I've only seen bits of Lord of the Dance on video (so how long ago was that :rotfl:) but I do remember enjoying it.

I hope you got your home insurance through a cashback site??

Onepoll was great yesterday but very mean today. Have you tried MySurvey? Not sure if you can do them where you are but the rewards are really good. I've only been doing them for about a month and have made £10 already :). You can use as few or as many points as you want and can chose from loads of different retailers/vouchers etc.

Mysurvey is kinda rubbish in Ireland, but it is on my list, they rarely send any surveys but I do them as and when they send them. It wouldn't let me lie and register on the UK site, it appears to know IP locations when you register. Glad you are doing well with it :)

Cashback sites aren't great in Ireland either, nothing as good as Quidco here so no cashback but I did ask for a discount and got €30 off.

What a shame - you seem to be doing well with Toluna though. I could never get on with them.

€30 (woohoo found out how to do the € sign!) is not to be sniffed at though. :T

    Happy St Patrick's Day!
Sing a song of shamrocks! Dance an Irish jig! Pour yourself a hearty drink and take a healthy swig! Tell a tale of Leprechauns! Drape yourself in Green and have the best St Paddys Day the World has ever seen!
    or
With this message I would like to wish you a Happy St Patrick's Day. Please enjoy the festivities in the beautiful land of James Joyce, Oscar Wilde and Rory Gallagher!
(Both were texts I got today that I liked)

So what does an Irish person who's not really into drinking do on St Patrick's Day?.......I stayed in bed late, then I went to the farmers market (biggest one in Munster) and frittered away some money buying delicious food. I bought granola, pesto and some Arbutus tomato and herb bread http://www.arbutusbread.com/individualproduct.php?productID=97. Also got a jute shopper from the Arbutus bread people. Then I had a delicious lunch from the Indian stall at the farmers market (not very Irish I know!) which was fantastic value for €5.
The market is outside a rather large shopping centre so surprise, surprise I had a walk around there too. Tried on some clothes at Debenhams, didn't buy any but have my eye on few things for when they get reduced to 70% off which happens a lot in Debenhams.
Also got this book "The pile of stuff at the bottom of the stairs" It's new I think. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pile-Stuff-Bottom-Stairs/dp/1444710397/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1300390416&sr=8-1
I deliberately avoided going to any parades. They are mostly marching bands and childrens groups which don't interst me at all but I loved watching the hi-lites on tv earlier. You know how they pick out all the best bits from all over the country and reduce it down to a 30 minute slot -that's my sort of parade :)
Going to watch the wedding on Fair City (Irish soap) at 8 and after that I'll check back here and I have a few emails to reply to as well.
Oh and how could I forget, it was announced today that Barrack Obama is coming to Ireland for an official visit in May :T :T
