Like those shoes, a lot & I've been wearing a taupe ish colour on my toes this summer, looks quite classy I think :).

Great news on the focus group earnings, sounds easy & very rewarding.

I've also been wearing a neatral colour this summer - the Benefit one that was free in a mag a couple of months back. I love it but anything that lasts 10 days has got to be good. Keep us posted.

    :T to free shoes too!!!

    • 55p on onepoll today and 32p on Crowdolgy
    • Decluttering: 4 magazines in the recycling
    • Both today and yesterday were NSD's (2 so far this month)
    • Took lots of vitamins/supplements
    • Dinner was a rather nice "city kitchen" ready meal from Te*co (King prawn, chicken and chorizo paella with tomato + basil sauce)
    • Used my new Aldi mini-oven to bake some cookies using "kooky dough". The oven is fabulous, heats up really fast and is so small the cooking time seems to be reduced. Much better than my cooker oven which takes forever to heat up.
    • Lurked in MG's matrix forum where I'm trying to catch up

Had a phone call from "toxic friend". Her mother is going into hospital tomorrow at 3pm for her masectomy on Wednesday :( "Toxic friend" said she isn't coping at all well (understandably) and is in hysterics a lot of the time. "Toxic friend" is still concentrating mostly on herself and finds all of this to be a big inconvenience especially when she has aqua aerobics tomorrow night :wall: Her mother is a lovely lady and I feel so concerned for her.

Bit of an inconvenience in my day too. Painter is back in the city :( He's painting the outside of the house he was previously working on. It shouldn't take too long but it's raining now so that won't help with hurrying him along :( Today I had to use my new favourite word "no" on him twice.

"Can you call to visit me today?"

"No I can't, sorry, lots to do today"

"Mags, have u at home a scart lead? I have a dvd player"

"No I don't, you should be able to get one in Tesc*"

Please not another week of this, I really can't tolerate him.

Tonight is the first night it feels like winter here. It was starting to feel dark at 6.30pm and now I'm listening to the wind and rain outside. Horrible, I can feel the winter depression setting in already.

Horrid here too:( I had my snuggie on the sofa and a hot water bottle! I can hear the rain on my bedroom window and the wind whistling. So much for an Indian summer!

Well done for standing up to PP. Hopefully he'll get the message soon.

Not been able to sleep and now to make it worse there's an alarm going off in a house across the carpark :( Got out of bed to get earplugs but they aren't blocking the noise out. It's LOUD :(

Oh dear, I hate when that happens :(

It didn't ring for too long in the end, maybe 3/4 hr but still

Anyway today's main news is that Mrs B (toxic friends mum) got through the masectomy and reconstruction op ok. It took 5 hours  and she is in recovery now but the surgeon said everything went to plan. I think I've been more worried about this than toxic friend so as usual I'm rather cross with her.

I generally try to avoid toxic friend but I had specifically requested that she call me whenever she could even for 2 mins just to let me know how everything went. She did call but talked about herself more than about her mother. She's so used to such a pampered life that I don't think she sees how serious this is.

I mean she chose last night before the aqua aerobics class to book a lesson to be shown how to use the swiss balls at the gym. But here's what really annoyed me. Her dad did the shopping and she was moaning that he bought the wrong things. He wouldn't normally be doing the shopping and from I heard he did really well with it except he bought the wrong brand of cereal, more rashers/sausages, frying pan stuff than she'd like, etc.

So I explained (very nicely of course) that I think her dad did a great job and that nobody would go hungry with what he bought. I told her that if she wants specific things she could go with him to the supermarket next time or at least give him a clear list of what she wants. Or better still go to the supermarket herself tomorrow and get her own shopping.

I also heard from her that she's mostly going to avoid the situation because she's not a doctor, nurse or psychaitrist and is therefore not qualified to deal with this. I had to explain that similar situations are playing out in houses across the country every day. Most people aren't qualified to deal with it but they do the best they can with a little help and advice from the professionals.

Toxic friend has never seen her mother or anybody else unwell like this ever and I think she'll be in for a HUGE shock when she comes home. Lucky she has me for providing reality checks :D

The recovery process with be slow but for today it's all good that the surgery was a success.
