All very true, but the highway code doesn't advocate 'slamming on the brakes' does it.

Anyway, I'll say no more on the matter as clearly you understand my meaning but choose to ignore it as you realise that to acknowledge it would cast you in the same light as that you wish upon the OP.

Slightly shameful, but no lives lost, so never mind.

I've never actually said I've done it in the past. My braking may or may not cause a crash, I don't think you can really pass judgement until I've actually stated I did it.

I also never said I purposely put myself into a position where my braking would definitely result in a crash to reap the benefits of a personal injury claim. The tailgator puts themselves in that position, not me.

My first car was ironically written off due to a tailgator on the motorway (I never touched the brake to cause the accident...) and that person caused much pain and injury to my passengers. For what? following me closely to try get me to speed up and ultimately break the speed limit?

Tailgators in my opinion get all they deserve. They put peoples lifes at risk for absolutely no reason. There's no need for it and since my accident, I reduce my speed when I have a tailgator to reduce the risk.

Correct, you didnt, but then neither did I ever accuse you of doing so. Your initial post implied that you WOULD slam on the brakes if you were tailgated. I simply asked therefore if you were advocating Dangerous Driving, which is what that would be

Agreed, you never said that you had, but you did say that you would

I am genuinely sorry to hear that this happened to you and your friends. I too have been involved in non fault collisions and know the pain they can cause

Completely agree with you again. I hate tailgaters as much as the next person. However, I stand by what I said earlier that slamming on the brakes makes you just as bad as the person riding your bumper

The thing is, you can't take the moral high ground and berate someone (or their DH) for an assumed lack of driving standards and in the next breath state that you would willingly cause an accident yourself.

I actually agree with you on a lot of points, but felt in the interests of fairness (Here's me taking the moral high ground now) that I should point out the shortcomings of that particular post. I mean no bad feeling at all.
