I think I'm correct in saying that ElkyElky never mentioned anything about an emergency in front of the vehicle and unfortunately a car driving too close to your rear end doesn't qualify.0 -

I do as the highway code states and lower my speed to suit the driving conditions/road conditions.
If a tailgator is behind me, increasing a risk of a serious crash.. I lower my speed. If that results in a crash, it would be unfortunate but I'd be thankful that I didn't continue at the same speed and further increase a risk to other road users. At least by doing this, I can choose where and when would be best to lower my speed (no cars or pedestrians around). We’ve had to remove your signature. Don't think you need to do a lot more.
Nothing to stop you changing insurer at renewal time, but of course you will have to mention 'claim pending' somewhere on the proposal.
I wont be able to do the insurance online then, no cashback :-(
Nevermind, if I cant find a quote low enough the car will be going anyway.
Im sure the extra walking will do me good.0 -

I think it's the bus for the OP and family from now on.0 -

No - but slamming on your brakes for no reason except to try and get the person behind you to hit you from behind is both stupid and dangerous.
Anyone who who is brainless enough to deliberately cause such an incident by unnecessary braking (or advocates such behaviour) is obviously too stupid to be driving in the first place."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Some following behind are stupid too.;)0 -

All very true, but the highway code doesn't mean 'slam on the brakes' when it says 'lower your speed' does it?
Anyway, I'll say no more on the matter as clearly you understand my meaning but choose to ignore it as you realise that to acknowledge it would cast you in the same light as that you wish upon the OP.
Slightly shameful, but no lives lost, so never mind.0 -

There are lots of stupid people about.
Just don't make yourself one of them."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

It's only a guide.:cool:0 -
Ok so let's say the car slammed on its brakes, your husband still would have had time to stop should he have kept to the 2 car lengths assuming it was a 30mph road.
I'm not making accusations - I don't need to but the evidence is pretty clear... He was tailgating the car infront, she braked for whatever reason and he rammed the back of it. This accident could have been completely avoided.
Uh-huh.
So, while you're on your little assumption spree there, take a look at this little nugget from YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYFwAmI6d0I
If the Peugeot driver had gone into the back of the Land Rover, would he have been a tailgating idiot as well?
Face it, you don't know the circumstances. You have no right to jump to conclusions.
And the driver of the Landie, BF05 GKD, you're a f*cking idiot. To any employer of this moron, take note of the video.0
