havent read thread yet so hugs for the poorlies and sad ones.
I had a chat with DD last night about her ex BF and she told me some things I didnt know which have made me so angry
Apparently on a couple of occasions when she was staying over his he totally flipped and grabbed her by the throat and threw her to the ground :mad: she ended up with a mouthfull of blood and bruises
This is on top of putting her down all the time, telling her she's fat (she's a size 10/12) and generally being a total control freak
He made it obvious he wanted nothing to do with me or DH but we made sure he knew he was welcome at our house anytime, I feel so stupid I didn't realise exactly how badly he was treating her. I'm just so glad she's finally realised for herself and has finished with him, he isnt worth a single one of the tears she's cried over the last few days
Sorry for the rant, Im just so mad at the moment, my DH is upset too and feels we've let DD down.
I'm just praying he doesnt try and weedle his way back into her life, although he will have to get past me first!!
Will pop back and post later when Ive read the thread.
Well at least she is safe now. I bet her dad feels really bad. As a dad myself all you wont to do is protect your DDs..... Yes you have to give them the freemdom to live there lives for themselfs when they are young adults but you still ahve had need to protect them form the bad advents taht life sometimes gives you. I feel very sorry for your OH and yourself at the momnet.
But there is good in all this. I would bet my house that you and DD now have a much closer bond between you. it must have too a lot for her to tell you what he did. She loved him more than anyone will know, you always did with a first love. Its so very bad for her that he was a totel !!!!*r. But she now knows that you dont treat someone thta you love that way. She know now that you dont put up with that crap off some one.
She also now knows that she can tell you the bad things in her life aswell as the good. This is grate as you can give her advice this will help to protect her and keep her safe.
I do think that you need to tell her that not all men are like that. She needs to know that she should not let this affect her life with other boyfriends/partnerts.
Tell her that one day she too will meet her very own halight and will live like a Qeen!!!!!
So that i can not safe anything that will make you feel any better.
Its hard at the moment but things will get better:A:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
evening!
been a long day - just sat down with a cuppa ready to watch Silent Witness. Busy at work as we are having a new bathroom fitted with an all-singing all-dancing bath:j the service users will love it but it's caused major hassles trying to get it done as we're down to 1 toilet - no bath only a shower for the 5 of them and about 8 staff.
Still we got everyone up and washed in time for the workmen to begin.:T
I've been to collect DS2 from work too.
Tomorrow its my hospital appointment for my colposcopy_pale_ I'm an old hand at these but I've got a new (male) consultant to meet for the first time tomorrow. The last 10 years or so of treatment have been with 2 ladies. My friend from work is driving me and if all goes well we're taking her rescue collie to the woods for a walk afterwards.
Not a lot on the OS front to report today and I just cba to go into detail.:D Hope everyones ok (((hugs))) if not x x x
All the very best for tomorrow, Will be thinking about you.:):jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Could I call on your combined knowledge re. ham hocks? I've got one in the freezer but I don't really know what to do with it - I was just showing off in the butchers in front of my DH

I absolutely LOVE a Ham Hock in Pea and Ham Soup.
I soak 1/2 pack of peas overnight, throw it in my SC with 3 potatoes, 2 carrots, an onion, and a load of Garden Peas... add the Hock and some seasoning. Cook for Hours!
String the fat off the Hock and give to cats, strip the meat of and tear it up, I throw half the meat in the soup and save the second half for the next soup.
Feeds 3 with leftovers for 3 days at work
HTH
Ps. Lentil soup works well like this too... just take out the peas!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Fairylittle  What an total @rsehole:mad: - Thank goodness DD is home safe now.
Had a lovely dinner tonight - One of my experimental bung-its
Diced chicken, lardons of bacon (fried), peppers and mushrooms with a make it up sauce of 2 dessert spoons mayo a squirt of english mustard and ¼ tub cream simmered down to make a thick sauce.
OMG it was lush and DH and DS loved it.
So that is another one for the recipe book. I have also made a recipe book of all DD's favourites so that if she leaves home she has a good basis and I have also sorted her a few recipe books as well.
Jackieg - I hope you are okay ((((Hugs))))

Evening all

I've had quite a good day, really.
MIL came over and with the OH, we went for a loooong walk over the hills. For the first time, the new dog is shattered and has spent all of the afternoon and evening spark out
I also called my employers to see if they could give me an idea of a start date. It turns out that they were still waiting for both my references to come through. If I hadn't called I wonder when they would have thought to tell me.
I called my tutor to ask why he hadn't sent it, to be told that he never had an address to send it to . I also called the other referee to find out that she's on holiday until next Weds! Apparently, if the hospital can get the references this week, I can start next Monday, but if not, it'll be the end of March
So, my tutor has agreed to re-send the reference by e-mail, and I've asked a friend/business contact to send them one. The hospital agreed I could use another referee, but they may not accespt this one as she' also a friend.
Honestly, if I'd not called, I wonder how long it would have taken someone to contact me to tell me what was going on  If they don't accept the second reference, I'm applying for another job as I'm getting a bit fed up with them.
Oh well, it's not the end of the world (yet). New car is being collected on Saturday, and OH has another contract to go on soon, so money should be fine. We also managed to save £400 on our car insurance by using a multicar policy with attendant discounts :T
Apart from that, nothing exciting has happened. Mum made dinner (buffalo sausages with garlic, mash and fried sprouts), and I've had a couple of glasses of wine so am getting sleepy
. Will watch 'My big fat gypsy wedding', then go to bed as we're doing a dummy run tomorrow morning at 6am to see how long it takes to get to the hospital.
Take care all,
T xx0 -
Evening all
Well I had one whole week to get excited about my £3.60 a week pay rise, today we've all been asked to accept a pay cut of £3.50 a week, deep deep joy! The excuse is that if we accept there will be no redundancies, the truth is, I'm sure, that even if we all accept, give it 3 or 4 months & we will be told that deeper cuts need to be made & there will be redundances after all. If I get made redundant I shall get about £1500, whoope do.
What I shall do is withdraw from the union, that will save me £7 a month.
Tonight I made 4 portions of beef curry, 4 portions of beef casserole & 2 cottage pies, there is enough left for hubby to have beef sarnies for the rest of the week.
Have a good evening.
Hugs Hester
