Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tue 1st Feb. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Morning.
:bdaycake::bdaycake:
Been a few weeks, but I am still about and one year older.
The cold is coming to an end with wind and rain forecast for weeks by the looks of it
Had to buy oil yesterday at a stupid price.... No moneysaving there, even boiler juice was more expensive..
But day off and I am going to laze about the house and then go to Wetherspoons for a 10 oz rib eye steak and beer
I think some friends and family will show up too... 2 of my kids will be working so that will save me some money :rotfl:
Have a good day where you are...

Happy new month of febuary:j:j Im glad that january is now behind us. I do hate jan. It always feels a long month with dark morning and dark nights and cold days.
Febs here now the nights will start to get lighter faster and the days should start to feel warmer.
Its still cold out side this morning but not as cold as yesterday and we have not had a frost this morning.
The girls have had a better nights sleep. They both only woke up once each and that was because they both wonted a wee. There potty training is going well by the way.
Iv got two large sauage rolls for my lunch at work today.
Not sure what dinner tonight will be. We still have some left over beef from sunday so we might use that.
well i hope taht everyone has a good day.
Enjoy yourselfs:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Morning all - OOOOOhhhh have had an eventful few weeks here!
OH has been at home with the children as I've been working 9-4. Things have fallen down around our ears though - children have been missing school uniform, lunches been forgotten, you get the picture. Last weekend I went to be a model for my friend in a wedding fayre. Great fun - but spent Saturday night dealing with one of their neighbours who needed an ambulance - wow! Eventful.
Yesterday my boss said I wouldn't be paid for January until the end of February - he said the same about December at the beginning of January. So I thought about it and decided that I was worth a bit more than that. So I'm not going in today. He's been on the phone trying to convince me otherwise. But (fortunately) I now have two sick little boys and a house that looks like a bomb has hit it - so I've MORE than enough to get on with.
Now that I'm back on track, dinner tonight will be pie with veg and I got some pony carrots the other week - those that can be rescued I will make into a carrot and ginger soup - or something like that!
Sorry haven't been keeping up to date with the thread - but hope that everyone is OK. Hugs to everyone, specially Nic2Lou.
xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

I cant believe that he has still not paid you properly and that you are now working full-time. Only you know the ins and outs of the situation but it sounds very dodgy. Dont let yourself be taken advantage of as you say yourself you are better than that and hope that your little ones are feeling better soon xx
I agree very dark today although it was lighter much later last night so there is a glimmer of hope.
Hugs xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Morning folks
January was complete carp as far as watching the pennies, GC, dejunking etc went - none of these really happened properly!
However, new month, new start, so am starting new GC, have done food stocktake & meal plans last night, got a load of bin bags ready to sort stuff into sell, charity shop or throw piles. It's a bit less cold here this morning & DS back at nursery after Fri & Mon being INSET days - blooming long weekend! - so got to hit the ground running this morning.
Hope you all have good days - missed a month's news, so congrats and/or hugs to whoever needs them.

Morning all
Usual chores done here, washing's on the maiden, packups made & fish fed. I stopped at the filling station to get some petrol & it's gone down in price dramatically, I bought £100 of B&Q vouchers for work, 2 kitkats & £30 of petrol & it came to £101, he didn't charge me for the fuel. I didn't realise till I'd left the forecourt & so I thought !!!!!! it, I need my breakfast so came home, I'll pop in tonight on my way back to get hubby, that is unless the police catch up with me duing the day, lol.
Curry for tea tonight made with LO beef, the joint was £12 & so far has made 5 portions of roast dinner beef sarnies for tea Sunday night, sarnies for hubby for this week, tonight I'm making curry, casserole & 2 cottage pies, so not bad.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
Happy Birthday to N9eav :bdaycake:
Happy Birthday to Julie67 too:bdaycake:
Cold here, hopefully not wet till tomorrow though, as I have a backlog of washing to catch up on,I was out for most of yesterday,so not a lot got done.
I think my sc is dying too, it just would not heat up yesterday, will try and fix it, otherwise will have to get another.
The meeting went well re dad yesterday, they do not think he is ready for a home yet (nor do we) so he will be coming home saturday, I gave the sw a rocket up her a**e yesterday too, as she has been worse than useless, she is coming out to see mum this morning to arrange a care rota, which should have been done weeks ago Also my sister has put in a complaint about the way they dealt with the abuse situation,we are still waiting to hear back about that
This morning I need to do my at home job for a few hours, will then hoover through, have a clean through, and shove some washing on.
Dinner tonight is roast pork, roasties and loads of veg.
Have good days all xx0
