    there's a long way to go to get 100,000 signatures:

    As castleford tiger has just posted, the 'market' for LPG in the UK is dominated by just two companies: Calor and Flogas. As he's in the business he knows more than us users, so I hope he* will keep us up-to-date.

    *I assume castleford tiger is a "he"!

    urgent meeting with suppliers due in next week.
    Sales are dreadfull.............thats the weather, but no sign of a drop in prices.
    Sales at this stage 2012 compared to 2011 (that was also warm post xmas) are down 40%.

    I am a he.

    Stop using my LPG boiler as prices too high! been using wood stoves instead

    We are looking into purchasing a home which has Calor gas bottles 3 x 47KG having read this forum it sounds like this is a pricey fuel option to run the radiators and hot water!

    We were considering buying a new Combi boiler to make the heating more energy efficient . Does anyone have any advice for us on whether this is worth doing?
    Also to help us keep the cost at a reasonable level.

    The property does have a large wood burning stove.
    All aspects of the above heating are all new to us, so any pointers or suggestions would be gratefully received.

    Many thanks

    <snip>

    As a dealer selling over 250 tons a year, we are fed up with prices being forced up.
    we have just had during march ANOTHER 10p a kilo forced upon us.
    trust me its not us thats taking the profit........mine is just 4.00 per 47 kilo bottle. Thats to pay up front/storage and handling.
    We sell at 56.00 right now inc vat.We refuse to move this price up.
    The market is controlled by two major players and thats the problem.
    It is based on oil prices but how often do you see it fall when oil does?
    I know many agents are paying MORE than we sell it for so do not assume they are ripping you off.
    I heard £90.00 here in Yorkshire last week.

    I will try and post as and when i can.

    Wholesale LPG prices have fallen a bit, I believe (see here for ANSI). Retail also falling? Or haven't your suppliers budged?

    You posted a month ago so good to have some up-to-date info, please!

    Cardiff Gas posts their prices (here) and currently:
    Propane 47 kg – £49.95 incl. 5% vat
    The deposit is £30.00 plus VAT (20%):
    Propane 18 FLT, 19 or 47kg Deposit – £30.00* inc. 20% vat
    * – refundable on a depreciating basis i.e. within year 1 – 70%, 2 years – 60%, 3 years – 50%, 4 years – 40%, after 4years – 20%
    SEEN A BETTER PRICE ELSEWHERE?
    Tell us where you’ve seen a better price and we’ll try and match it or better it for you!
    Might be useful to quote if you ring around! Even if you don't live in their Cardiff/Newport delivery area.

    Does anyone know a supplier in North Staffs (Moorlands), near Leek, Ashbourne, Uttoxeter etc cheaper than £60 for 47kg, or is that a reasonable price?
