  • Hi everyone, I used to do this challenge last year but kind of fell of the wagon. I definately need to start again thanks to my birthday, and Christmas, and mostly thanks to my out of control spending!

I came online to check out the thread, thinking of joining at the start of March but reading about Give and Makeup makes me want to join in right now by sorting out a box or two. I think its an excellent cause and I have always wanted to help something like that, but have never known how to go about it. I have got tons of gwp size toiletries and make up, and also tons of sample sachets. Do you think they would be ok, or are full size things more useful? I have just requested the label - how long does it take to come through? I would like to post it tomorrow so I might be pm-ing you in the morning Mcculloch29 if I haven't heard anything.

Off to sort out some goodies! Bye for now x

Come to think of it - didn't we have a chap on board somewhere ?
    Where has he gone ;)

Perhaps the smell of all of our toiletries combined was a bit overwhelming for him...:rotfl:.

Yes, the refuges are for women and children and I'm sure kids' toiletries will be really welcome.

    Welcome to all newbies!

I had a thought - if you would like to post goodies to Give and Make Up and get the parcel in the post this weekend, I would be happy to email out the pdf (Adobe Acrobat document) returns label if it hasn't arrived.

Just pmm me your email. I promise I won't misuse your email addy and won't keep you as a contact (unless you want me to).

yeah don't be sending me secret money off coupons for toiletries! Have sent you a PM, and will enjoy making up this package.

There are also schemes to foster pets from families fleeing domestic abuse- apparently pets are one of the things that stop people leaving but then often abusers have also harmed the animals.....what a horrid world we live in. :(
http://www.rspca.org.uk/allaboutanimals/helpandadvice/petretreat just in case anyone on here needs them....there are other charities that do it too....

Boy, do I feel soft this morning after a huge slathering of S&G righteous butter last night. The conditioner doesn't seem to wash out very well - might have been me being lazy? I only had a mini anyway from a set so it's UU now anyway. The shampoo is lush but I noticed you only get 250ml...don't need to use a lot though....hmm...wiba? Not decided yet.

Went to B**ts to get medicine for £4. Was expecting a No. 7 voucher (cos the last offer was spend over £3.50) and she didn't. When I queried it the nice SA just slipped me one anyway :rotfl:....No.7 face cream is one of my HG items so going to struggle with this one but I have one almost finished and another 2 in reserve from the last offer (end Jan). However, on that basis, there should be another one coming out in April??? And I do have my BS voucher now....hmmm. My cashback tracked so I got the voucher for £10.80 - I knew this last night and STILL didn't buy another one. This is the first sign of real progress for me because in the past I would have bought 5.
But I decided that I didn't want to saturate myself with BS products-I want some variety in my stash. I could easily spend 5 vouchers, trying out new products, but I want to have money for other things this year, and get some of my space back so the spending has to end. Now. Jack's mantra kicked in too....if I have enough for the next year then I won't buy anything no matter what the bargain.....hmm, where is Jacks....not out shopping I hope!

My bathroom bin is overflowing with UUs from this week, doing really well! Now just need to remember that this doesn't mean I have room to go and buy more stuff.
I am anyway so overwhelmed and confused by all the B**ts offers at the moment which is having the happy effect of me buying nothing!
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

Thanks, meant to list last Sunday, then last Tuesday, now no excuse:rotfl:)

Are you feeling masochistic enough to take advantage??
(Read your ebay posts this week :D:D ....when it works it works and when it doesn't...........)

    xx
In for a penny and all that! We still have hall, stairs and landing to get stripped to the brick and replastered and DH has said he's not going to do it so we need to pay someone to do it. Not sure how much it's going to cost but the new plasterboard for the ceiling is probably going to cost >£100 alone. It's the labour that mounts up too but hoping the chap will persuade DH to do it with him to save paying another chap. DH is quite capable of doing the job just doesn't want to be plastering high ceilings above a big drop but he can do the bottom part of the wall and work his way up.

No more UU's and no more ins. I might actually finish the shampoo/ toothpaste tonight. Not sure. I'll let you all know.
The new mascara is in use. I'm not overly sure about it. I like the mascara but am in danger of poking my eye out with the wand! Oh well, I'll need to replace it in August 2012!:rotfl: Hopefully I'll get used to using it within the next couple of weeks :D

ETA: Roshy, I worried about having the same issues as you when one of the jumpers which sold on Friday night was sporting a wet muddy pawprint on Saturday morning. It had to go through the wash again and I worried about losing it. I got a spare laundry basket and filled it with everything that had been listed (apart from the dresses which needed to be hung). I placed my postage bags on the top so the cat couldn't go and make a bed on there! The basket is almost empty now from overflowing but I shall endevour to fill it to overflowing again :D

  • hi have a few uu to report
pretty polly leg wipe-dont think this did very much ,this might be due to the amount of lotion i have been putting on my legs anyway!!
pied de pepper foot lotion and fair trade foot lotion dated 0ct 1010-the fair trade one was quite nice so would reconsider
noticed a few people have tried the lush henna blocks..are these anygood? when i replace stuff from my stash i want to try items that are cruelty free/buav approved only (i wont bin stuff i already have but wont buy from some companys again if you see what i mean)if not can anyone recommend a hair dye brand. oh also are the £1 shop ones any good? cant imagine they would be very enviroment friendly but i guess it would depend on the brands they get in
£365 a year spend challenge - this has included food/clothes/beauty?? who knows where I am

I'm waiting for an epilator to arrive from BzzAgent to do mine. Wish it would hurry up! (It was free btw!)

Welcome to all the newbies and returns!

I've requested one but I might take you up on that if it doesn't arrive tonight :)

Whoever posted about the shampoo or was it shower gel fairy, I have a toner one. My Elemis toner has been sitting at just under a quarter full for about 2-3 weeks! And that's using it twice a day to try and finish it

I've decided to bin a sample size of Clinique toner I bought for travel, I found it so rough to my skin and stung :( My sisters both had the same reaction. Or do you think it would be ok for the Give & Make-up?

A UU of L'Occitane Cherry Blossom hand cream just now - WIBA? Yes. My hands seem to like all the different scented L'Occitane hand creams I've tried. But as I still have at least one L'Occitane one and 2 S&G, I don't need to buy anymore yet.

How long would you guys use a mascara for? Would it be awful to bin the ones I've had open for a year, as for some reason I can't find one and I open another :o I have one brown one opened about 10 months ago, and 3 black ones in use at the same time :o

Well just packaged up my box, came in at just under the 2kg Phew!

So, pleased to announce my (and some of DD's) OUTS

Poundland Make -up sponges (bought them for oil cleansing experiment, but not really suitable!)
Wisdom Dental Floss Harps ( have such trouble getting floss between my teeth, so hated these!)
    Make-up bag
BS strawberry body polish and shower gel (small ones)
Garnier toner. Scarcely used, didn't suit DD's skin
Garnier Summer Body lotion (we had 2 of these (???) and "lost" one on freegle, not so keen on fragrance)
M&S factor 15 hypoallergenic sunspray. As new and perfectly functional, but like spraying yourself with water, totally unevocative and practical.
Scholl footspray (never use it, don't know why not, just don't!)
Visibly Clear face wash/mask (another doesn't suit item)
Few samples and 3 brown eye pencils (Why 3? Brown doesn't work for me?) quite new and I have given them a good sharpen down a bit, so they should be fine I think!

and finally a 30ml BS hemp hand protector (spread the l-u-r-v-e!)
and a Dove deo from the recent glitch!

    Feeling quite liberated actually!
