I've been too 'scared' to sign up to this challenge but have been watching it!

Still not ready to commit but have forced myself into not buying anything I already have. i.e No more BS Body Butter as I have about 20 already etc.

However, my lovely Mother bought me a online visa giftcard for my birthday yesterday and I've just gone a spent all £25 of it on the Lush website:money:.

Think I might have to commit to this challenge properly from March. Trouble is I've got boxes of smellies up in the attic as I ran out of room in the bathroom so I don't even know where to start!

Hi  Join now! That way you only have to be good for a week (ish)! Obviously any misdemeanors (sp) before today don't count! :D

ooh- welcome shjo558 !! I got a 25 pound visa gift card for my birthday too - but i spent mine on flowers for the garden - it didnt really cross my mind to spend it on toiletries at all - over a year in to the challenge and Im finally getting the hang of it.... LOLOL

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

A UU to report - Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer (small size) - do like this and probably will buy it when I've gotten through my other hair masks...a few to go yet!

My first UU on the challenge - Origins a Perfect World - WIBA - no, this didn't agree with my face, way too oily, so I've been using it as a (very expensive!) hand cream to get it finished. Shame I have another in the stash too. Still, my hands will be looking fabulous at the end of it!

IKWYM juliebuuny. Not received anything in a jiffy bag from them before. Although I haven't used L'occitane customer service myself I've heard good things about them so you could email them and query the soap. The Bonne Mere soaps are less robust and dent more easily than the Shea Butter ones - I know after dropping them in the shower:o
Btw there is some good info on these soaps, reviews and a video clip here http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.214898/walk.yah.UKHB~UK83
a lot of my stash (esp soap ) is due to them :rotfl:I am on their list so get coupons for free gifts to us einstore or online when buying a cartain amount of stuff.they often come with lovely make up bags too.the last offer was for shea butter items and had a lovely fabric bag which i am going to fill for DS2s girl as she commented on the lovely soap I have(shea butter liquid one)the ladies in the store are lovely and will gift wrap free so greta for pressies and if you buy online(through a cashback site of course)you can request gift wrap free which in some cases turns out to be lovely decorated boxes:).I had a problem once as no gift wrap provided but customer services were great and after I emailed them they called, asked what i would like and then sent out a box of stuff to me the next day....great service(unliked half price perfumes who still have not contacted me about missing points:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:)

I just had to share this with you. When I posted about Pink Rose Candle Philosophy on the BBC's Ouch! Disability interests forum, I had several responses from people who often got given toiletries they couldn't use, due to medical conditions - and some who couldn't use toiletries at all.
I posted about Give and Make Up over on Ouch! and it's gone down well.
I thought this post was an absolute cracker.

As a resident of a domestic violence refuge some years ago, I remember the monthly box of goods that a well-known pharmaceutical company used to send (their factory was nearby - most refuges don't get this).

This meant so much - restored a little dignity, and it was touching that some people gave a damn. Receiving a hair brush, shampoo, and soap meant that me and my child (who had to keep going to school) could regain an ounce of self respect.

(I, like others, had no money for a long time in the refuge. Sadly had to rely on income support, which took a few weeks to come through: didn't like having benefits, but it wasn't safe for me to go to work, as my partner used to try to find me there. Won't go into the ineffective nature of police in preventing such activities... And refuges usually don't have spare cash for toiletries, etc.)

Thanks for that mcculloch29, puts our overbuying into perspective a bit doesn't it. Have got my label and am looking forward to making a box up at the weekend, could you put things in for children too do you think?

  • Thank you to all who posted about the BeautyBuys Give and Make Up labels - my email with printable label has just arrived! :j They are saying they have had a great response. :j:j:j

I've just printed mine out and will be attaching it shortly. As soon as I've posted it I will be able to list the "outs" - I think they will class as 're-homeds' - that are in it.:D

Where on the site did it mention the labels, just had a quick look and didn't spot that bit?!
  • I've UU a 50 ml BS Sweet Lemon Body Butter. WIBA? Yes, I love BS BB and this smells divine.

I've also succumbed to the BS voucher but I'm not intending to use it just yet. No doubt my stash will have reduced slightly by the time I need to use the voucher up!

I've not bought any Body Shop groupons (offer not available in Ireland) and I bought none of the offers on facewipes because I prefer to use cleanser:A:A

BUT I'm feeling very guilty about yesterdays spend. Not on toiletries but at the hairdresser.

I paid a rather obscene amount of money to get the colour stripped from my hair (or "cleansed" as this process is called at salons). I did it because the root touch up kits I used a few months ago to save money:( left a band of very dark colour around my hair that wouldn't lift and hi-lites wouldn't take on top of it. I have very long hair and I really want to have nice hair again. My hair has been making me depressed lately because of the bad colour as well as the grey roots so I decided to pay to fix it.

So now it's done and the band of home colour has been removed which means I can get hi-lites in a while. I'm glad that it's done but I feel really guilty about what I spent. To anybody looking at it my hair doesn't even look much different, just a bit lighter in colour.

So I'll really need to not buy stuff in March to make up for the cost of the hair. (But I am getting the Glamour Clinique offer:o)
