  • I've been with 3 since May this year and touch wood it's been absolutely fine - I would and do recommend to all of my friends. I live in SW London and reception has NEVER been a problem. I've been to places in the country where my friends are on Orange and have no reception but I have.
    I have only ever had 2 dropped calls, when I was on the phone driving down the motorway (naughty!). A TINY bit annoying, but I am paying £48 for the year with 500mins and 100texts. So I'll get over it!
    Customer services are in India and they don't always understand what you're saying which can be frustrating, but again, for £48 I don't care! Got my deal at e2Save and they price matched https://www.just3g.co.uk.
    Already got part of the cash back back.
  • Didn't work for me. I was on Talk Plan 120 £25 and switched recently to Talk 60 £19 per month. I have seen deals for O2 and 3 for 100 minutes for the same price & O2 do 25 free texts. I called Orange and because I am a "low value" customer - I don't go over my allowed minutes, they could not match the deals. So I am voting with my fingers and going to O2. The Orange operator warned me off 3 becaise of "poor customer service". A messsage to Orange - you need to look after the little people as well as the big ones.
  • Another Vodafone experience to add to the pile.

    My hubby is at the end of his contract so we called 191 and through to "leaving Vodafone" option to ask for the PAC. When asked why he wanted to leave he stated that he wanted a Z500 but upgrades wanted to charge him for it (We didn't bother with upgrades as past experience has taught us the following. They have no power and always offer you really crap phones for free or the decent ones at a high price!)
    They said they could give him the phone for £60(!) for 12 months contract or £24.99 for a 18 month contract. (On his contract he pays £15 per month which includes 100 xnet anytime, 50 text and 12 free pic messages.) He said no thanks and that was that.
    4 days later Voda call him on his moby, offered the phone of his choice for free, on the same contract for 12 months with a free bluetooth headset and memory card thrown in for good measure!

    Its not for the faint hearted, but if you can wait it out and take a risk they will always come round to your way of thinking! This is a method that has worked for both me and my hubby for the last 2 years.

    has anyone renewed their contract without getting a new phone and had the phone cost taken off the line rental instead of getting a phone? Thinking about trying this later, but wondered if anyone had any luck before I tried

    I just upgraded my contract and since there was no real handset that too my fancy I told them I don't want a handset. They reduce my line rental by half for the next 12 months and credited my account with £100. So instead I now only pay £1 a month and I get 450 minutes cross network calls offpeak and 100 sms a month on O2. Which suits me perfectly. So yes if you are happy with your handset it is worth telling them you dont want a new one.

    Blimey, this works. Rang orange to tell them I was disconnecting, got a free 500text a month bundle for 12 months, new SonyEricsson P910i smartphone and 200 minutes, all for the same price I was on.

    Well worth a go.

    Currently with BT Mobile on the 150 mins/50 text package with two mobiles on one contract for £25 per month. Phoned them the other day to see what they could offer me for my next 12 months.
    They have given me an upgrade to 200 mins/50 texts and two brand new mobiles, a K750i and a V220, for £22 for 6 months and £40 for the next 6 months with an option to downgrade my tariff.

    Last year we reviewed what we were using our phones for as opposed to what it was costing us a month in contract bills. We're both casual call users, heavier text users, and those mostly to each other. My contract expired and I switched to O2 PAYG. My husband did the same when his Orange contract expired. This won't work for everyone but we are saving loads by switching to PAYG. We both top up about once every two months for £10 a time. This has worked great for us.

    Two cons here;

    Its free to text to your own network only. And then only until the anniversary of your last top up date. Then they start charging for all text msgs until you top up again. Calls to other networks aren't cheap either.

    No more "free" phone upgrades. Not a problem tho if you're prepared to do some research when the time comes to buy a new mobile.
