You are quite right - I did not. Sorry, rushing a bit as a I am in my lunchbreak at work.
Yes, the DWP should be held accountable for any mistakes made - however, with the number of claimaints in this country, mistakes are inevitable. That said, it is not acceptable to decide to focus on one area (ie their mistakes) at the expense of other areas (auch as benefit fraud). Both are equally important.
Incidentally, can you provide evidence, ie a link, that refers to these mistakes?0 -
I don't think it's the reporting that the problem but the DWP's reaction to it. It's very unfair that any benefits should be stopped if a report of possible fraud is received until it has been investigated. That's treating people as guilty until they have proved themselves innocent.
Benefits should continue until positive proof of fraud is found. If the person is in the clear, the benefits can continue. If fraud is found, then the extra few weeks paid out while the investigation was in progress can be added to all the other money they have received fraudulently and claimed back from them.0 -
Vexatious complaints are offences in other areas of practice (litigation, employment, even appeals of DWP decisions). It should be the same for malicious and/or unfounded benefit fraud complaints. As we have seen on this thread, they do exist and not only do they cause distress and hardship for the falsely accused, they also cost the taxpayer money in investigations - something which, presumably, the more one-track-minded hereabouts are keen to avoid.
Perhaps a £50 reward for a correct tip leading to a prosecution and a £50 fine for one that is shown to be vexatious?0 -
How many people do you know, who are claiming benefits, that you do like?
Quite a few actually, but I have a wide spectrum of friends, some are on benefits, some are company directors, one is a millionaire (one that I know of anyway) makes no difference to me, people are people regardless of their income/position.0 -
I refuse to spy on my neighbours for the state, it's the first step on a very slippery slope which ends up with the Stasi.~*~ If you don't need it, it isn't a bargain ~*~0

You just sound spiteful to be honest!
Mind your own business. It's highly likely you are not in full receipt of the facts. Let the government do it's own dirty work.
If you do go ahead and report,- i hope it comes back to haunt you:mad:0 -
And to add to my previous post,- if your claim is false or in any way inacurate, you should pay a fine for time wasting:rotfl:0
