Ratting on benefit cheats

I too would never report anyone on benefit fraud BUT I would never think less of/call anyone who does AS LONG AS they are consistent and not just spiteful. If it;s just enemies they are reporting then that's petty and they then lose the moral high ground but if they can take the same stance with their loved ones /best friends then fair play to them, at least they treat evryone equally, friend or foe0

Thanks makes me feel better. Ithink lots of people can rant and rave about benefit cheats but when it comes to reporting them not everyone has the guts. It does really annoy me they get away with this but at least me and my hubby have nothingt o hide and arent worryin about knocks at the door.0

I hate the idea of people commiting benefit fraud, it just makes life a lot harder for the genuine cases.
I've was accused on here because both my husband and my son are claiming ESA in the support group. Hubby gets DLA and I claim Carer's Allowance. My hubby is very ill in fact he's slowly dying (will take years though) and my son was attacked with a machete by a mental health patient. He now has severe depression leading him to be committed last year as he almost succeded in killing himself. Even with all this information I've still been accused.
People who know us personally wonder how we cope but there are a few people who would love to report us for anything as they think we get paid for doing nothing every day. If only they could see life from where I am after being awake for almost 30 hours, it's no fun.
Before you do report anyone please make sure you have the facts because being on the end of a malicious accusation is not pleasant as a friend from my carer's centre found out. She's a single parent claiming DLA and CA for her daughter and when she got a new motability car a neighbour got a wee bit jealous and reported her as living with someone. The poor girl hadn't even dated since DD was born never mind had a partner but they still stopped her IS for weeks until it was sorted. The DWP had seen a man going to and from her house who turned out to be her child's carer paid from, yes you guessed it, her DLA care.0 -
Hello
I want to report someone who told me they had forgotten to mention something on their application for benefit, if you catch my drift. However, if they were to draw up a list of suspects who may have dobbed them in, I am sure my name would be on it. When DWP contact people as a result of info, do they say 'we have received information' or is it more general, like 'we are conductiing a review of your claim'. Does anyone work in this field and know?
Thanks
You need to be totally sure because there may be a lot of information your not aware of and doing this could cause huge problems for this person.
People are very quick to do what they believe is a good deed to the public when a lot of times they don't have the full facts. You may think you do but really how could you know all personal information on this person?
I'd say leave well alone it's not your business. The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0 -

If someone is stupid or arrogant enough to tell other people that they "forgot to mention" assets or income on their benefit claim form, you don't need to know much else about them.0 -
Just shop them in. Then don't give a second thought.
The people that fraud the system don't give two hoots about anything or how anyone else feels. Why should you?
If they are claiming wrongly, they are busted, if they are not, they will carry on claiming. We already have one example of someone on this thread who was accused, no issue found so they carry on. Whats the problem.
Shop 'em in and do us all a favour.

Do you know what many people on here have gone through who have been pulled up wrongly? the stress and how horrible it is for someone to go through this when they have no real reason to? I've not been through it but have read on here, many, who have and how awful it's been for them.
THINK BEFORE YOU ACT, have ALL your facts and not just your dislike for someone, or mind your own and leave them to it, if their doing wrong [which maybe their not] their be found out.The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. Myself and my husband were wrongly accused of benefit fraud last summer. We have only just had our housing benefit reinstated, my husband was sectioned due to the stress it caused and his recovery has been put back by several years. Many people on here were quick to shoot me down without knowing all of the facts, they already had me behind bars! We are still paying the price for someone's jealousy and will continue to do so for many years. I was in a way hoping it would go to court because then the DWP have to submit all evidence including whoever made the initial claim. I have my suspicions but know it wont do any good, it wont turn the clock back to when my husband could cope with the telephone ringing and the doorbell.
I hate benefit fraud as much as anyone, it takes money away from those of us who need it. However I despise just as much those who report suspected fraud maliciously. Just be sure of all of your facts before you report anyone because the DWP treat everyone as guilty until proven innocent and we would have had more rights had we been arrested by the police.I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

But you've just heard that through what someone has said and already made your mind up, it's the very reason mistakes are made because people 'talk' and it gets bits added on etc.
Who knows if what they forgot to mention they haven't already called to mention, maybe it was a genuine mistake and they've corrected it? is this person doesn't really like them to me seems the only reason they'd report them. The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me.
