We have only just had our housing benefit reinstated, my husband was sectioned due to the stress it caused and his recovery has been put back by several years. Many people on here were quick to shoot me down without knowing all of the facts, they already had me behind bars! We are still paying the price for someone's jealousy and will continue to do so for many years. I was in a way hoping it would go to court because then the DWP have to submit all evidence including whoever made the initial claim. I have my suspicions but know it wont do any good, it wont turn the clock back to when my husband could cope with the telephone ringing and the doorbell.
I hate benefit fraud as much as anyone, it takes money away from those of us who need it. However I despise just as much those who report suspected fraud maliciously. Just be sure of all of your facts before you report anyone because the DWP treat everyone as guilty until proven innocent and we would have had more rights had we been arrested by the police.
Your a perfect example of why people need to THINK before they ACT.
I'm sorry you've gone through this and all because someone couldn't mind their own business. The day I had my Beautiful son is the day everything came together for me. For someone so small he done so much and made me complete.0 -
because I think they have been dishonest and I don't like them. The fact I don't like them does not change the fact they are dishonest. I am sick of people scrounging off the state, especially with all the cuts happening and promised. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

I was told that it was a female, but that was all. I have my suspicions of who it was, and if I am right, this person knows that Brownie leaders are not paid, but that everything we do is voluntary. They also know that our accounts are audited annually. It was just spite, desiggned to worry me and cause me some distress.
The Job Centre were quite happy to confirm that my volunteering did not mean that I had committed fraudThe greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Thanks for the link.
Have just reported the residents of SW1A 1AA. Won't hold my breath though to see if any action is taken against them:D

Flyboy11 gets DLA. The insane mother of a boy, who had been bullying him at school, called the DWP and accused us of claiming the allowance fraudulently. An investigation was carried out, whilst his allowance was suspended, but there was no case to answer. Because the information was provided "anonymously," they couldn't sanction the woman (the woman made no secret of what she had done). It took three months to have the benefit re-instated.
How can anyone be 'sanctioned' for reporting suspected benefit fraud? Sounds like nonsense to me.0 -

I haven't made up my mind - I wasn't there when the person receiving benefits spoke to ManicMum. Neither were you.
I'm sure that she is capable of making a distinction between someone saying "I'm so worried - when I filled in the forms, I forgot something, etc" and somone saying "Ha, ha, aren't I clever. When I filled in the forms I "forgot" (wink, wink) to tell them about that account".0 -
