Damn
went out for a run and my knee hurt so much I had to stop and come home
edit - it's not a sports injury, the knee, it's a result of er...extra curricular activity, shall we say
Extra curricular is always the best, and most enjoyable form of exercise... I hope it's not carpet burns though!:eek:Matryoshka wrote: »Lady approaches me in church.

Me: I exercise.
Lady: I have 3 kids so can't exercise.

Me: My husband works and so do I. I wake up an hour earlier to workout before the kids awake and before I go to work.
Lady: I can't wake up early.
Me: (((( still don't know what to say really ))))))
I mean, what was the bloody point of our conversation :rotfl:

jesss this really is the worst kind of carp
Milk didn’t last 7 – 10 days then did it? In fact, it was already ‘on it’s way out’ by the same evening. So what do you think the supermarkets have done to make it last longer…?

Isn't it amazing what complete and utter tosh these people come up with to substantiate their wacky diet ideas? Geez! that whole milk lasting more than a day wizardry has really got me flummoxed though... we'd best go dunk the milkman in the pond and see if he survives.
Hi gang, Happy Easter :easter_ba:icotbaske:easter_os (I wait all year to use those smilies)
I forgot to post again last week, but it was only 0.5lb loss, so will see what the weigh in result will be tomorrow instead.
I can't say I'm sticking rigidly to SW, because life is soooo busy, and I'm not taking the time to factor it in completely. I'm trying to follow it's principles as best I can, but counting indulgences is the bit where I'm not doing it right. Using the online tools daily is the best way, but it's amazing how quickly you get out of the habit.
Anyway, roast beef dinner for lunch today with all the family here, and son's girlfriend too, so I'd better crack on with that. I have some rhubarb growing madly at the end of the garden, so might make a healthy crumble too.
Keep up the good work gang. I've really enjoyed reading Margaret and Eric's posts these past few days, and I do like the Fat Head blog. Glad it's not just this country that had turned into a nanny state. I just wish the politicians would butt out of the minutiae of our lives, and concentrate on the bigger stuff we can't do ourselves. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Well, she approached me again today in church and said she'd seen an advert for P90X and is thinking of buying it :eek: I wanted to tell her it's a hard workout until she said she only wants to buy it because the advert said if it doesn't work, she'd get her money back :rotfl:SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:

Hi, may I join you?
I have just been told that I have high cholesterol 6.1 and I want to avoid statins, so I have started a low(er) carb eating plan.
I'm not counting carbs, but cutting out all bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, and sugar of course!
Eating salads, green veg, meat, fish, cheese (in moderation)
But I am confused about low carbing and my cholesterol. Should I still eat steak? Should I eat the lovely crispy chicken skin? Can I still eat my "home grown" free range eggs?
Should I be low carbing at all with high cholesterol?
The idea of low carb AND low fat just seems a recipe for miserable eating!
PS Also having test for rheumatoid arthritis, so I am trying to eat plenty of oily fish for Omega 3.0 -

ok time for some mythbusting
there's no scientific study that shows a relationship between ingested cholesterol and blood serum cholesterol
51% of people who get CHD or CVD have low cholesterol
statins do not reduce small dense LDL which is the stuff that clogs arteries if you have an underlying cause of inflammation in the arteries, which you need to get CHD or CVD
http://www.marksdailyapple.com/statins-do-not-decrease-smalld-dense-ldl-cholesterol/
all the studies i have seen have shown a marked improvement in blood profiles for people on a reduced carb / low GI diet, my cholesterol is now 4.3
your body needs cholesterol, its the building block of all our cells, infact the body will make its own cholesterol its that important.
I dont avoid any types of animal fat, I eat a lot of whole milk and cheese, i try to keep my carbs at around 100g a day

About statins, what no one tells you is that they have side-effects.
I was persuaded to take these things some while ago, I'm not even sure that my cholesterol level was all that high although I have got a history of heart damage - 22 years ago and no problem since. I was given to understand, at the time, that they were considered a good idea for everybody 'over a certain age'.
I went to my GPs' surgery recently, saw a young, up-to-date GP. I asked him to look through all the medications I'm taking and see if any are known to cause hair loss. Yes. Statins. If I had known that I'd never have agreed to take them in the first place. Stopped immediately. The following week I had a full blood test including cholesterol. I'm sure if the levels were anything to worry about I'd have had the surgery on the phone immediately. Haven't heard a thing.
You need some carbs, but it's which ones. Most carb-based foods that you buy contain refined white flour and artificially-created fats. And sugar!!! White sugar is the killer.
Like Eric, we have whole milk, that's DH and me - doorstep milk! And English butter. However, in small quantities. We eat Hovis granary wholemeal bread. I'd never eat white bread! Nor do we have such things as bought cakes, biscuits, all the artificial kinds of things you see in supermarkets.
It's better to eat as 'clean' as possible i.e. things that grow on trees or in the ground, rather than items that have been through factories and have goodness knows what added.
