I haven't had any chocolate since I started the Insanity Workout 6 weeks ago  and I haven't missed it. Quite weird really  I didn't even fancy any of the kids easter eggs :D

I did max interval circuit today, and i put in more effort than i did when i first done this on monday. It was still hard and i was dripping in sweat. I still forced myself to do 10 mins on the cross trainer, although i had to give it my all, as i increased the resistance and my legs were already burnt out from Insanity.

Can I just ask, are the body composition scales quite accurate in regards to muscle mass, fat % and all that? Or are body fat calipers the best way of measuring body fat %? How does everyone else measure how much muscle they've gained and their fat %?

the scales with the hand grips are reasonably accurate, +/- 3%, the ones you stand on only are far less accurate, however its very easy to distort the results alot, training causes fluid retention so you need to be consistent with the scales and either always train the day before you use them or rest, doing either or will spike the results, random salt intake will also screw the results, as will not following the rules for eating and drinking before hand

skin fold callipers are only accurate to +/- 4% and thats only if there used accurately, there's huge scope for them to be more inaccurate thou because of the 100s of possibilities to make small mistakes which magnify into big errors, or if you like me and your fat is not even, the other problem with skin-fold callipers is they do not measure visceral fat which is the most dangerous for health (good electric resistance scales have a go at this, like mine)

the most accurate cheap way to get it measured is with a bodpod which are 1-2% accurate, i do this every 6 months or so for £30

the best way is a dexa scan, but i think its about £200 a go

Just spent a few hours catching up with the thread. Lots of great advice, thanks.

I presume all new challenges start on the first day of the month?. If so I will wait until 1st May to join in with those.

I have been dabbling with walking / running for a few weeks, but I downloaded the C25K podcast yesterday and began week 1. I only managed the full 60 secs run twice, the others were about 50 - 55 secs. I think that using the programme will push me to improve and help me to track my progress.

Very interested to hear what you say about carbs and fat Eric. I already cook from scratch and avoid processed food, but will definately be looking at how to reduce carbs. Maybe I should have listed to my Mum years ago when she told me that I needed to cut out bread and potatoes to lose weight.

I know I do eat too much bread so I think I will begin by swapping a salad for my usual sandwiches at lunchtime.

Hi Jess - the challenges start the first chart of the month until the last chart of the month - but you sign up the week before the first chart of the month so it's ready to go.

Which I'm sure is as clear as mud :o

Just keep an eye on the thread I'll post for people to sign up.

Ok - who fancies a rematch for the team challenge next month?

Choice of N v S, home countries or diets?

Neither am I at the moment! :o.

I've lost my way a bit and have been eating all kinds of carp. I've not been eating as much as I did before as I've been really busy and not thinking about food, but what I have eaten has been mostly rubbish. :( Tomorrow probably won't be any better as we'll be having a big meal, and I can guarantee that I won't be able to resist my easter egg!

On a better note, I have been moving a lot more lately and am on my feet for most of the day, which has got to help things a bit.

Fred - I vote for N v S. Anyone remember who won last time? (not on this thread so can't check back - don't know if the last one's still around?).
  • Fred - can you add another 2.97 miles to my marathon total please.

Another 25 min run completed today :D Then later I went surfing so I can def say I have done than my share of exercise today :j
(which is needed after a few M&S cranberry and orange hot cross buns they are delish :rotfl:)

Hope you all have a nice easter and don't eat too many eggs :EasterBun
    Restarting C25K in 2014 - Week 8 - 1/3 completed

Need to loose 25lb / 3lb lost so far :(

I have come on to confess. Even tho i feel i am doing really well with giving up the cola, i have ate a few cookies tonight. Feel dead guilty and i am going to step up and start again.
I am going to try and wake up earlier than the kids in the morning and start on one of my dvds, cant wait to get my wii back, i know i would do better if i had it so will be getting that back asap. Going to try and do a dvd 5 times a week. even tho this hot weather isnt helping as it is making me feel horrible.
fred re the n vs s, have never really known where i fit into that, call me thick but im from nottingham which is in the east midlands, so ive always classed myself as in the middle and not really in north or south (am i really that stupid? lol)
