I've been asked by a mate to go with her to one of these alternative therapy people - she wants to see if they can pickup anything that will help her general health (I don't think there's anything serious wrong with her). From what I understand depending on what they think she needs they'll test if she has any allergies or is low in any vitamins and such things and then advise her on alternative things to take to improve things.
Has anyone tried them - are they any good? Is it worth going?0 -

the low fat diet has been pretty much debunked now, fat does not make you fat, fat is good for you, even cholesterol is good for you, there's no correlation between ingested fat and blood serum cholesterol levels, the whole low fat scam which has lead to the global obesity epidemic is down to the blatantly fraudulent research that ansel keys did
sugar makes you fat, well high insulin levels, and guess what they replace fat with in "healthy" foods0 -
Anyone see this?Last month the Mail revealed that Pret’s tomato soup contains, in one small pot, 4.5g of salt. That’s the same as the amount in nine packets of crisps. And when you consider that the recommended daily allowance for salt is 6g a day, you can see that 4.5g is a frighteningly high figure. Then there’s the Hoisin Duck Wrap, which contains the equivalent of three teaspoons of sugar — making it higher in sugar than one of Pret’s own milk chocolate bars. And take a look at the Ham, Cheese & Mustard Toastie. It has 696 calories and 18g of saturated fat — almost the full 20g amount a woman is advised to eat in a day —and 4.25g of salt. Eek!

Good job i don't eat food in pret!!! Although i believe its a sister company of Mcdonalds so thats probably why!
I had a fab little weekend in London, lots of walking so im knackered and achey. So many muscles ache that i obviously don't use so hopefully that will tone me up a bit!0 -
Re. Pret - I am not surprised at all. It's all so sugar and salt laden, much like Mcdonald's, which is the company that owns it.
That's what makes it taste so good i suppose!
It should def be considered junk food, and not the healthy option that ppl think it is.
Someone at work once told me that their cheese sandwich has the same cals as a big mac! :eek:Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
