Fred, I'm reporting a 1lb gain.
Usually I've been saying im not bothered, blah blah blah. But this time I am vexed. I did start my TOTM last week, I was ill last week, I did binge on one occasion during my TOTM, but I put so much effort into my Insanity workouts, I stuck to 1000 cals a day, only going a bit over on some days, I honestly have no idea what happened. Only thing I can think of is that all the above reasons coupled caused me the gain. The obvious one, the binge, i shouldn't have done it, and i've only ever done it once before, but i dunno what caused me to binge on chocolate, as i've never had a sweet tooth before, and it caused me to be sick. I didn't have too much, probs 500cals worth or something, but that is more than enough. Again my other reason being TOTM, that's an obvious one aswell, what with water retention and all that. Being ill i think hampered my week aswell, as it may have caused me to be in starvation mode, hence my body keeping hold of as much fat as possible and that coupled with exercise on the days straight after i was ill, may have been a bad idea aswell (im sorry mum, guess your the one laughing now:()
But facts are facts, and 1lb gain means I messed up.
I really wanted to reach the 5lb target this month, but losing 3lbs next week doesn't seem that likely for me at this stage of my fitness journey.
Argh, first gain i've had i think since restarting my fitness journey in october, as i've been consistent with losing, only having one or two STS's, so i'm really disappointed in myself.
But not gonna let that keep me down, obviously last week, something went wrong. Usually when I'm on my TOTM, i have a loss, only rarely STS, so I need to address whatever issues happened last week, rethink my plan, see again if what im eating is good, if how much im eating is good, and of course put more effort into my Insanity workouts. And now i have my new toy, the 2 in 1 cross trainer and bike. :DIt came yesterday, got fixed yesterday and used a bit yesterday night. And today is the start of using it properly. That coupled with Insanity should give me a loss next week. Also have to finish the Everest challenge. Wish me the best. I think im gonna stay out of this thread for a bit until next weigh in day.
Fred, can you also update my Everest to 6200ft. Cheers.0 -

Did you check your measurements? It could be that the Insanity Workout causes us to gain muscles. It is pretty intense. I haven't weighed yet - usually weigh on a Friday - so I'll know by then. Don't be disheartened.SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:

Great minds think alike, I just got a chicken at lunchtime so I can cook it and strip down the meat tonight to make a few salads. Have rocket and cherry toms at home, basil might have a pepper left.sarymclary wrote: »STS for me this week. I didn't get to WI as I was poorly, so not been weighed. It's * week anyway, so don't think I'd have had a great loss anyway, as I feel really bloated.
Dinah, having looked at your meal plan, I also thought it was high in carbs, and low in protein, and I'd definitely be having much more veg with my main meals. If you want to try a simple experiment, a basic principle that I follow on the SW plan is that 1/3 of my plate has to be fruit or vegetables. Even when I'm not strictly following the 'plan', I use this as a good guideline for me to know how to structure each meal. 60g of shreddies is quite a large portion. If you struggle with feeling hungry if your meals aren't large enough, try having more filling foods. Porridge would be a much better breakfast, made with milk/water & sweetener, or sweetened naturally with fruit or honey; it's also very cheap to buy. My children were pouring far too large portions of cereals, so my youngest 2 now use my little set of flat-bed scales every day to make sure they have the right size portion we have agreed on. My youngest likes a large breakfast, and struggled to have smaller bowls of cereal, so he has his weetabix or shreddies bulked out with some fruit like a banana, pineapple, strawberries, mixed berry fruits (£1 a bag frozen from Sainsbury's).
Your evening meals look quite small on a couple of the days. Are you feeling hungry between meals? The foods you listed that you have would make a really hearty, filling soup, especially if you added pulses into it. I have a big bowl of my veggie/pulse soup, and never need to have bread with it, because it's more like a vegetable stew. It can also be used as a base for a casserole/stew if you get bored of it. I try to restrict my bread intake to only w/ends, or just a couple of slices of wholegrain low calorie bread mid-week with a meal like bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc. I know that pasta and bread really bloat me, and make me retain fluid, thereby not losing weight each week. Even wholewheat doesn't help me. I seem to naturally want a higher protein diet, so I make sure my meat is lean, and I incorporate lots of tasty vegetables, with low fat sauces, or just tasty gravy.
I get the feeling you're not wanting to miss out on sweet things, hence having the chocolate, quality street and ice-cream. How about doing a deal with yourself for a week or two, and say that you can have these treats (that's what they are, they certainly aren't in any of the essential food groups!), but, you only have them at weekends, and then you don't go OTT, but allow yourself a taster. If you struggle to control sweet cravings in the week, why not get some very low fat/calorie hot choc drink, or some sugar-free jelly to have a spoonful out of the fridge whenever you feel a craving. See if that helps shift your weight after a couple of weeks. It's all about understanding our weaknesses, where the pitfalls are, and dealing with them. If the sweets at work are hard to deal with, move them away from you, avoid walking past them, or ask people in the office to put them away. Also remember, you don't always see the reward for your efforts on the scales for up to 2 weeks.... in just the same way that we think we get away with over-indulging one week, only for it to catch up with us the next one.
I feel hungry at work, once I'm home I only really eat dinner because I should, half the time I don't want anything. So I upped what I have for breakfast so I don't snack during the morning, as I was doing this every day. Even a 60g portion of cereal is only around 300cals. I eat chocolate when I get headachy or dizzy, it puts me right again. 25g is a line of Green & Blacks on the big bars, but there'll definately be no more quality street. Ice cream granted was the first in a few weeks but I knew I shouldn't be eating it, throat was sore and it looked so soothing! I always eat breakfast at my desk and cereal seemed like the lowest calorie and most filling thing to bring, I can't really think of what else would keep me full till lunch but be less carby.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

betty I fully agree with the website, my friend in Spain always says 'it is not the bread you eat, it is what you put on it' that's been here thing for years, that and portions, yes agreed, 28g is not a lot of cereal dinah
I remember a website I read where the person was obsessed with fruit and ate so many apples a day it was unreal but she was large quite large and when they moved in all the nutrionalists, health analysts etc it was the fruit that was the sugar high cals (excessive) that was doing it, she was flabbergasted, thinking fruit was her way of staying healthy, everything in moderation, watch portion sizes and watch what you cook it in/put in it, there is always a less cal less sugar less fat alternative to any of your fav foods:D0 -
Dinah, I'm not sure what you mean by 'I only eat dinner because I should, half the time I don't want anything'. Why do you feel 'you should'? I cannot eat if I'm not hungry and I always stop when I feel full. These days, DH and I have a fairly good lunch late (we still haven't eaten ours and it's nearly 2.30 pm!) normally between 1 and 2, and we don't have anything that you could call 'dinner'. Tea and a snack - a cheese sandwich maybe - about 5 pm, and that's it.

Has anyone got a copy of 30 day shred that they don't want? Delivery time on Amazon is about two weeks as they don't stock it as an item anymore, just from their market place.....0

1lb gain for me, think is is mainly because of totm but also because i have been feeling very stressed and didnt help when i ate 2 cookies and have hardly exercised.
Have been for a walk today with my son and that was about 4 miles there and back.

It's rare I'd eat something as big as a sandwich on an evening tbh. I feel I should because hubby is eating and it's rude for him to sit there alone, and because it's the only hot meal of the day where I can have vegetables and the like. Also if I don't I get a very gurgly tummy and the noise can keep me awake!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
