One says carbs the other not, it really is a what works for you, the way your body digests carbs, fats, cals, a personal thing I reckon:D
I would say looking at the research thats about now its more down to how your body deals with insulin, there does seam to be some evidence that the skinny bean poles that eat what they like and never gain weight have extremely good cell tolarance for insuling0 -
Yes when I first started weighing my food I was surprised at this! I still eat cereal and I allow myself 40g as a portion (counted in my calories of course).
I eat plenty of carbs, I like them, so for anyone who may not wish to go the low carb route - it can be done!
your exercise regime looks pretty heavy, which would support a high carb intake, you are literally burning them before they can be stored, or at least keeping your glycogen store from maxing out which prevents you going into fat storing mode
its a fine balancing act
you need to break the carb craving cycle which most of us fatties have, where you just gorge yourself on carby food even thou you know your not hungry, this is mostly driven by a hormone release from the pleasure centre in the brain
the carbs you eat need to be slow release to stop insulin / sugar spikes which also lead to cravings, crave sweet things after eating a meal, this is probably to blame, this is how i can eat 2600 cals a day and loose 3lbs
high levels of insulin in the blood are a double killer, it not only forces the body to store carbs as fat but it activly blocks fat from being burnt
keeping a low carb intake drains the glycogen stores and forces the body into ketosis / fat burning mode, but you do not need to be any where near as extreme as say atkins says0 -
Just 0.6lbs off for me this week. I had high hopes so not really sure why but nevermind.0

+3lbs for me, guess that's my holiday caught up with me now. As from first thing tomorrow, I'm on a strict diet! No more crisps, no more chocolate, no more booze!
Alli, yes loving the kinect. My knee isn't loving it so much tho, had a few days off from it atm)
4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Hey Everyone,
Just been catching up on the thread...
Victory - Glad to hear things are starting to move along in regards to the will.
Mazza - Congratulations on the all clear :j, it must be a great relief.
Betty - The No-S diet sounds like a really sensible and straight forward diet plan, good luck with it!
Matryoshka - Thanks for the comp link!
Dinah - I definitely agree about the silly cereal portions! I have to weigh out my son's food and he always has 50-60g of cereal (he's only 6!). I gave him 40g of something once as that was all we had and he just gave me a funny look and said, 'Don't be silly Mummy, you know I need to eat more than that!' lol.
Oh, and the chicken salad sounds yum, I have them a lot. I also like prawn salads with lots of mayo!
Princess X - Don't beat yourself up about it, one gain since October is pretty amazing! You are on the right track and are doing everything you should so I'm sure you'll be back to losing next week!
Well I bought 'Your Shape' for the Wii yesterday to cheer myself up (the one with the webcam). It had mixed reviews so I wasn't sure, but ended up buying it anyway as it was only £16, which seemed quite reasonable at the time. I really enjoyed using it, and found that seeing myself wobbling around on screen trying to perform star jumps and the like really motivated me to carry on!!!
I really wanted to do another workout today but I've been advised not to as I had a wisdom tooth out this morning. I'm actually quite tired after my dentist visit as I woke up three times last night worrying about it, I then had a lump in my throat and cramps in my stomach all the way there, I couldn't control my breathing for ages, and actually thought that I might be sick at one point! I really suprised myself as I didn't think my fear was that bad!
Oh well, it's over now. I am suprised I went through with it, but am really glad that I did.
I'm reporting a 1 lb loss this week. Will add my stair climbs later as I can't be bothered to go upstairs to check how many I've done - Probably not the best attitude to have if I want to complete this challenge!:rotfl:0 -
830 steps today - not a lot but didnt have much time - 830 ft closer to the top!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today? :A0 -
Ok, I've just checked... It's 133 steps, which takes me to 844 flights, or 7033 ft. I now need to do 64 flights a day - not good. I doubt I'll do much more today as my whole head aches
but will hopefully find some motivation tomorrow.

Lost 1lb
I was doing really well last week - I had lost 3 lb by Friday - and then came the weekend...
I don't get out much so I let my hair down when I do and it was all alcohol!
But then same Saturday night and mu husband did not have to work so we "celebrated" with a pizza takeaway & wine!
Sunday, did exercise, walked in the woods cooked a lovely roast... drank wine.
Not much better on Mon & Tues...
What I am trying to say is "poor me, can resist anything except temptation".
All in all very lucky to have lost a 1lb and promise to impress myself next week!0 -

Margaret Clare~How much do you still want to lose?
Oh heavens. About three stone. At 11 stone and a quarter, I'm not even 5 ft tall and should therefore weigh, at most, approx 8 stone. I may not achieve it in my lifetime!!
If I could lose another 10 kg I'd be reasonably happy. I've only lost 7 kg in the last 18 months. 7 x 2.2 = approx 15 pounds. Think bags of sugar lined up on the kitchen worktop!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0
